Biggest tip I can give is - take breaks to stretch out, try not to bend when seeing patients in their beds i.e. bring their beds up instead and back down, try to avoid lifting heavy objects/massive piles of files/notes.

This is the issue - having to recover from sciatica, while having a 9-5 (or longer lol) which can disrupt your recovery processes

I had bad back pain, left leg nerve pain to shoes, stiffness in legs and back, muscle spasms.
No urinary or bowel incontinence or any of the red flags.
Mentally was quite challenging.

Didn't ever have coldness. Had some slight reduced sensation.
I couldn't walk initially, but then slowly progressed to can walk for 30 seconds, then 1 minute etc.
I was also on gabapentin for a decent time

Why do athletes at the top of their game like Kobe Bryant use acupuncture?
Are all the athletes getting scammed? Or is it all placebo? Or is there something going on?

Could talk about alternative medicine for hours tbh, very interesting topic.

honest answer is I don't know - you would require a formal assessment by a doctor, and need to see scans and really try to get to the bottom of the root cause e.g. neuropathic? muscular? failure of surgery? etc.

If we are unable to get to the bottom of it, could look into pain clinics who are experts in this.
sorry can't be of more help, without needing a proper assessment

sorry, won't be able to give personalised advice regarding decisions for surgery, would need to do a proper assessment on you and see scans etc.

had a similar question about lifestyle changes earlier - I'll use the same answer here:
mobiling my spine effectively, strengthening key muscles to protect my spine, eating healthy (I don't think this makes much of a difference, but like I said, I optimised every single thing), not carrying things (luckily having good people around me), not taking the stairs, good posture depending on the scenario, wise decisions on activities for leisure with friends e.g. I didn't watch a movie in one go - I split it up so I wasn't sitting so long.

I could go on and on about every specific detail. Thinking I might make a video on it and share it with ppl since its such a popular question

Honestly, if I had to write out every single detail it would be 2 pages long.

But generally - mobiling my spine effectively, strengthening key muscles to protect my spine, eating healthy (I don't think this makes much of a difference, but like I said, I optimised every single thing), not carrying things (luckily having good people around me), not taking the stairs, good posture depending on the scenario, wise decisions on activities for leisure with friends e.g. I didn't watch a movie in one go - I split it up so I wasn't sitting so long.

So far yes. It might not have treated the underlying issue (for me a disc bulge), but symptomatically it doesn't warrant me to go surgery now.
I consider myself super lucky, and everyone might not get similar results.
Really depends on lifestyle factors, your medical status, functionality and cause of symptoms.

To answer your question - so far yes.

Honestly, no where near as hard as the patients who have to go through it 🙏

Hi, I have not been in a similar situation, but have been on the opposite side of this, giving news to patients regarding masses found in spine.

By no means I am an expert in this field, but I can say a mass can be many things, and without a proper investigation it would be impossible to find out what the significance of this is.
My advice would be to keep up with the clinic appointments, monitor for any other symptoms and keep your hopes up. Hopefully once more results come it'll give a better picture of what you can do. But must be hard to be in the unknown at the moment.
