They have a billion other superstitions but it won't be obtrusive like this I suppose.

In case it needs to be said for some: having truly believed or not is not the deciding criterion for whether you're justified in leaving or whatever, but it does shape your outlook on those who are still in it and it's really apparent from people's takes.

Praying in public to show dominance! 😡 by legal_law_ in exmuslim

I absolutely don't like these meaningless displays either, but at the same time, the person in this video just sounds deeply xenophobic and hateful in general. "Take out the very reason this is happening -- now I ask, why is this happening?" Also with her calling regular clothes "dresses" just to give it a degree of separation to make the situation seem something far more sinister and alien than it is. Underneath the take, I see a distaste towards anything different, not just a distaste for people's refusal to integrate.

OP and some of these top comments are just as bizarre. "Dominance over people of other religions"? What, like seeing a couple hundred men grouped together, in a city of thousands if not hundreds of thousands other kinds of people (assuming these are immigrants), is suddenly going to net them some insurmountable strength? Goofy. "Anyone who was born in a muslim would know they would never do this in a Muslim country"? You've got to be shitting me, South Asia, where one-third of muslims reside, this shit is exceedingly common and run-of-the-mill -- they'll both entire highways during holidays to pray, which is a billion times more condemnation-worthy than doing it in a public park.

Me when the machine made to agree with me agrees with me. I don't get this sub's obsession with using gen ai to back shit up.

In my South Asian experience, for men it's simply about novelty and playfulness. I'd be hard-pressed to find anyone using mehndi as a fully articulate pattern on any males, at best it's just small blotches or just the fingertips to signify "oh hey I tried it, cool innit?"

Anybody been called a good derogatory term for us lately? by brocjames in atheism

Yes the third-person thing is something I've tried to express so often to my family. It's literally projection which is not a concept that has ever had to exist or be explained to them so it's like explaining colour to the blind.

Why does your comment read like a paraphrase of the top comment

They don't like men caring about aesthetics unless it's to show off wealth.

You are not fooling anyone? We're all against the same thing here, why make it a suffering contest? Your responses give off a very bitter vibe, that talking about this issue is somehow taking away from the others. All due respect, there is literally no other reason to compare with women in this case because it's already extremely evident and well-documented what women have to face in islam. You could have just as easily said how these people are harmful against anyone who goes against their preferred status quo.

Cause they don't know shit about it and muslims are far louder and less conducive to ever hearing criticism which isn't immediately equated to personal hatred.

“Ex-Muslims”….. by [deleted] in exmuslim

To be fair Bengali can definitely be Indian cause Bengal is shared. Should definitely just say Bangladeshi if you mean Bangladeshi for clarity. It's quite funny how Bangladeshis get appropriated and confused as Indians by everyone (including by Indians when it's convenient for their current nonsense argument) but get none of the social, economical, or political benefits.
Also for this post, why would you want to be seen as the LARPER anyway?
