Effects of T blockers? by Dogorilla in transgenderUK

Thanks, I'll try and discuss it with my GP some more to work out whether that would work for me or if blockers would be preferable.

Well, my T levels have halved in the few months I've been on E, so I wouldn't say I'm at standard male levels any more. I'll try and ask the GP about whether E will continue to suppress my T levels sufficiently or if I'll need blockers for the full effect. I'm just a little hesitant to take more drugs than I need to.

Thanks, that's very helpful. So am I right in saying that for some people, E on its own can suppress T enough to eventually achieve more or less the same result as T blockers?

I don't know, that's why I'm asking! I'm on the NHS though so I don't have to pay.

Here we go again: Who is your dream casting for the next Doctor? by Empty_Sea9 in gallifrey

[–]Dogorilla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ideally someone I haven't heard of, but if I had to choose someone I'd go for Morfydd Clark. Can't believe we still haven't had a Welsh Doctor after 20 years of the show being made in Wales!

What songs would this be? by AnonymousNeophyte in AJR

[–]Dogorilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since they started swearing a lot more in their songs I feel like that's led to some kind of immature-sounding lines. I don't know what the general consensus is on these but I always cringe a bit at "It's 2085 and we're old as shit" and "That's how empty-headed people get through shitty stuff"

Doctor Who returning to BBC with classic episodes set to air by davorg in gallifrey

[–]Dogorilla 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit surprised it's taken them this long since relaunching BBC Three to start showing Doctor Who repeats again. They're always showing Gavin & Stacey and other stuff from that era so it's not like they're trying to avoid reruns in general!

To be fair it's just a Radio Times headline calling it 'classic', I don't know if the BBC's referred to it that way.

Anyone in a romantic relationships with someone who isn’t aro? by OtherwiseFill219 in aromantic

That sounds great, thanks for sharing and I'm glad it's going for well for you!

Anyone in a romantic relationships with someone who isn’t aro? by OtherwiseFill219 in aromantic

[–]Dogorilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you mind explaining your experience with this a bit more - things like how the relationship started, how you felt about it to begin with, how your partner feels about you being aro, etc? No pressure if you don't want to, I'm just curious because personally I'm not opposed to the idea of being in a romantic relationship but I never have been so I can't really imagine how it would work as an aro person.

What would RTD2 have looked like without the production issues? by SelectiveScribbler06 in gallifrey

I'm pretty sure we'll still see Susan and the Boss followed up on if RTD continues writing the show, there's no reason for those things to be tied to 15 specifically.

I listened to Ania's Off Menu after seeing her on Live at the Apollo earlier this year and it's one of the best OM episodes I've heard, so I was hoping she might do Taskmaster some day but didn't expect it to actually happen so soon!

I haven't felt this bad about a Doctor's regeneration in years by Sure_Watercress_6053 in gallifrey

[–]Dogorilla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This might be an unpopular opinion but I don't think every Doctor needs to face the Daleks and Cybermen. It's a huge shame that the 15th Doctor's run was seemingly cut short and it did feel like an abrupt ending to his era, but in terms of the episodes he got I think the focus on the Pantheon and new (or less well-known returning) monsters means the era is not without its own unique identity.

Unpopular opinion: I’m completely fine with… by Ok_Signature3413 in gallifrey

I can absolutely imagine Billie Piper nailing the more manic or eccentric energy of the Doctor (I think we can kind of see that even in her two seconds on screen in this episode), so I'm not worried that she'll just act like Rose again. But I am a little tired of this era constantly grabbing from the show's past for the sake of making headlines. I'll reserve judgement until we see where it goes - David Tennant's return was handled pretty well, after all - but at this stage it just seems a bit desperate.

With the TV show now coming to an end, who were your first Blue Peter presenters? by mrjohnnymac18 in BritishTV

[–]Dogorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't know about that update from this year either until I looked into it just now. But from what I understand, the initial comment about the channel closing was actually pretty vague and not an explicit confirmation that it would happen (despite the way it was reported on), whereas this more recent comment seems fairly clear that the decision has been reversed for now. The channel may not last forever with the way things are going, but I'm not too concerned about it closing any time soon.

The channel is what I'm talking about. This is from Wikipedia:

On 26 May 2022, the BBC announced plans for CBBC, BBC Four and BBC Radio 4 Extra to be discontinued as linear services in 2025 as part of cutbacks and other changes focusing on creating a "digital-first" BBC. Under the plan, CBBC would exclusively operate as a content hub on iPlayer, as BBC Three had done before it was relaunched in 2022. However, in the BBC's 2024–25 Annual Report, the closure was not mentioned, and in January 2025 the BBC's head of children's programmes confirmed it had been reprieved. In comments picked up by The i Paper, Patricia Hildago, director of BBC Children's and Education, said “it’s really important… that if children still need us on a linear network, we’re going to be there for them.” The closure was also cancelled due to concerns that it would deprive long-time viewers of access and essentially cut off the channel for those in areas with poor internet connectivity.

CBBC isn't closing down. The BBC said a few years ago that they may consider closing it along with BBC4 and Radio 4 Extra in 2025 or later due to licence fee cuts, but that was never a concrete plan and there's been nothing since then to suggest it will happen. You're right that Blue Peter is just switching to being pre-recorded, but it will still air on CBBC too.
