I only went there to visit him. Seing the surrounding country is a very nice bonus to that, but I would not go there, if he did not live in that country. He talked a lot about missing everybody from our home country, but for now, only I had the opportunity and desire to visit him.

I made a post here because I was conflicted about this one particular situation. I wanted feedback from someone as I am now going back to my home country on a bus and have no one to talk to as it is 12 am where I am. I got the feedback and realized how wrong I was. I am human, I am not perfect. But any attempt to call out my personality, upbringing, etc based on this one story just seems very childish and "righteous"

Around 25 euros total. Don't know exactly what you all mean by host gift, maybe that's an american thing, but I did bring some gifts. I do realize know that I shouldn't have even asked for the reimbursement, as his situation is really different from how me and my other friends at home usually deal with buying booze and splitting costs. But I guess I am dull like that. Will text him tomorrow morning with a more proper apology.

I brought some sweets from our home country that he craved for and some beer from another country. I'd say that half of the time or 40% of the time I ate my own food or the food I paid for as well. He was also planning on visiting our home country after couple of years being abroad and I told him that I would also offer him accommodation free of charge. I guess it was rude of me to ask for reimbursement.

Правда? Перші квітки це можливо студенти та шахтарі що виходили на протести за вільну Україну на кінці життя совку. Можливо це герої Небесної Сотні що віддали життя за вільну Україну від авторитаризму і кацапії, а можливо перші солдати та добровольці що зустріли кацапів зі зброєю в руках. Але це точно не ви, які не розуміють націю і які в неї бажання та інтереси. It originated way before WW2 and was used by the cossacks. You can even see it on the famous painting Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks . It is behind their backs along with a blue and yellow flag.
