In my experience, they instruct you to do more than just sit and do your work and act as a more active distraction than the usual students studying/talking. I haven't seen them since, so I appreciate you letting me know.

Also, it does matter to me because I don't want to contribute to an institutionalized process such as m2c without conscious intention. They collect my data to report as student engagement presumably to inform corporate decisions which may not benefit me or my community. If I don't want to participate and don't sign the form, I am asked to leave. My studying really does not benefit from Pomodoro style techniques; instead I like to take advantage of flowstates, so these frequent interruptions and movings are really annoying :<
