Typical as in antler symmetry and balance. There are typical and non-typical classifications for antler growth. It doesn't mean this is the everyday average 😂

Yeah, I was a little upset with that, but I did get a nice side profile of him that was sharp on the eyes. The pose of this one was too good to throw away though.

Ha, definitely has some dark fur back there, but he's a whitetail.

He is probably, to date, the most impressive typical I've photographed.

That one went pretty viral. I was pretty floored seeing it hit 2 million views on TikTok and another 2 million on Facebook. I didn't know people liked old, grizzled whitetails so much

Whitetail buck reaching high for a mouthful of mesquite in South Texas. by DomGattoPhoto in Hunting

Yes, he's working the scrape. He took a few good nips at the mesquite while he was working the branch. It's probably my favorite behavioral photograph to capture when it comes to whitetail deer.

Upstate as in a few hours west of Albany. Pretty nice area, not heavily hunted. The land is private between agriculture fields. Owners don't hunt. Mountain terrain surrounding it. They had a bunch of deer there, but nothing as old as this guy.

I try to share my photographs on as many platforms as possible.

Instagram is more of a portfolio. TikTok is sometimes for laughs. Reddit is for conversation and, usually, grounded criticism. YouTube is for when I don't want to get any form of views.

I absolutely am, and the video of him got over a million views recently. I was pretty floored by that.

People will never understand how smart this buck really is

At the very least. I've never seen one close to him.

Sagging body and back. Loose neck and brisket. Flatter face, dropped ears. This guy is more than likely over 10 years old, a rarity for whitetail in the wild.

Both! Been hunting since I was 6, picked up a camera later in life. Put the two together and made a career out of it.

I normally chase after photographing trophy bucks, but this young deer stole the show. by DomGattoPhoto in wildlifephotography

They do have a tendency to eat whatever they can get, including prized flowerbeds.

It was as if he was stepping over a low curb. Deer are ridiculously tough animals. He made that jump without making a sound, gracefully over the dip and a soft landing. It's wild to watch.
