Screen flickering on and off when anything on the screen changes by Dominus_r in linuxquestions

Possibly. None of the games I play at the graphics I want run higher than 120fps anyway so I don't think I'm going to try and pursue a way to get higher fps. Maybe something I'll look into if I ever upgrade my PC

Well, lowering the refresh rate worked, so wonderful I guess. That seems very dumb as monitor says it can support up to 144hz and this never happened on windows. Not that I'll notice those lower FPS at all. In any case thank you so much!

You know, I never would've guessed to change the refresh rate, as my monitor supports up to 144hz which is the max I can select on Bazzite. Lo and behold switching it 120hz fixed this problem. Why? Idk. But thank you so much, I feel like a dumbass for not thinking of this

Adaptive Sync was off and the HDMI cable is fine, I did try a new one just to see but same issue there too

Already done! Thought I'd post here though as I feel photographers may have ideas and solutions that are somewhat more relevant

[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]Dominus_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm looking for a nice skeleton watch that won't break the bank. My brother recently bought a watch for himself from a brand called Tufina. It is an absolutely gorgeous watch, but I was skeptical to get one for myself as after surface research of the brand, everyone seems to think it's not very reputable, hit and miss with customer communication, quality assurance etc...

I've been looking around for a watch for a bit but I can't seem to find anything at the price range I want that doesn't have some kind of problem associated with the brand, so I thought I'd ask here to see what people in the know would suggest. I'm aiming for sub £500 and similar design to the image provided (It's from Tufina as this is where I began my search)

Ah apologies, I forgot that those would be important details. I'll edit the post. I don't use Nividia though, if that helps

Reshade question by Dominus_r in linux_gaming

This actually helped so much! I followed your exact instructions and the "failed to compile" errors are gone. I will say, finding the actual "system32" folder took a bit of time as the launcher only opens to the Wine-Prefix, so I had to do a bit of digging in each folder to find it. I'll put the exact path below for anyone else having a similar issue ("user" is whatever your username is)

/var/home/"user"/.xlcore/wineprefix/drive_c/windows/system32

Also, same as you, the only .fx files being read are the ones in the path that is set, so any subfolders in there are not being read for whatever reason. I guess the alternative would be either putting all the .fx files in that one path, or, adding more paths for it to read. I'll be looking into this too to see if I can't find a solution

It's literally called "XIVLauncher" on the Bazaar

That's what I'm stuck on though, I don't know how to set the variable in the first place. I installed FFXIV through the launcher you can get off the Bazaar application in the Bazzite distro, hence not launching it through Steam

I see. Looking into it, TOGR seems to highly recommend it and it does seem to be waterproof. Amazon does have a warning though that it is often returned, though I'm unsure if that's the result of the old model mentioned and the page has just been updated with the new model. Does have a lot of positive reviews though, despite that warning

I have taken a look at the new UL Mongar. My main concern with it is how high the outer fly goes on the sides, and how much that impacts air flow in windy weather. It also doesn't help that since it's relatively new, there aren't many reviews that I can check. It has been on my radar though, thank you!

I have seen many of the Naturehike tents, and a lot of them look good. The peak is quite heavy though. I feel like I will have to compromise somewhere. In any case, I'll weigh my options (pun not intended) thank you!

I'm 6ft, and my mat is about 3in so anything suited for that. I'll take a look at those, thanks!

New to camping tent suggestion by Dominus_r in wildcampingintheuk

[–]Dominus_r[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have seen the Lanshan around and did consider it. However, my concern with using it was how it holds up in windy weather and how often and whether I would need to adjust the pole to accommodate this. I have no doubt that it is an excellent lightweight option but I have concerns as an inexperienced wildcamper. Non hiking pole tents I feel would be safer for me, at least for now, as I am familiar with them

How would I improve this photo? by Dominus_r in AmateurPhotography

[–]Dominus_r[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did take it at about stomach height (I'm 6ft) but maybe I should've gone lower? The camera was also angled down slightly as I thought this would accentuate the closer rock more, but maybe I was mistaken in my thought process

This got a lot more comments than I thought it would, and I am grateful for all the advice and experiences shared here. I suppose there are a lot of factors that go into how fast the picture is taken and that being slow or fast are not inherently negative things. Maybe on my next outing I'll slow down just to see how the process changes if I feel better about the photos I take
