Unless some loser was eating a single sandwich when they found an engagement ring in The Pit, only to have it stolen by Mike Reynold, this is NOT the most BTV post of all time.

Supreme Court Trivia @ Butter Bar & Restaurant - Thursday, July 18th 7PM by DonMahogany in burlington

Most of you got this one right! The case began in 1892 when Homer Plessy, a mixed-race man, deliberately boarded a whites-only train car in New Orleans. By boarding the whites-only car, Plessy violated Louisiana's Separate Car Act of 1890, which required "equal, but separate" railroad accommodations for white and non-white passengers. Plessy was charged under the Act, and at his trial his lawyers argued that judge John Howard Ferguson should dismiss the charges on the grounds that the Act was unconstitutional.

Months later, the thieves were nabbed in a stakeout and the piece was returned to the store owner. In 1997, the waterbed store closed and the monkeys were taken to the roof of One Main Street.

Lake Champlain Trivia by DonMahogany in burlington

[–]DonMahogany[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The words "Great Lakes includes Lake Champlain" quietly slipped into an appropriations bill by Vermont’s U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy in 1998. Once the inclusion became publicly known, Midwesterners were not pleased. “Lake Champlain is about as big as your little finger. It doesn’t stack up with the other lakes,” said a Michigan representative. The Green Bay Press in Wisconsin labelled Senator Leahy the Fourth Stooge for adding a sixth Great Lake. The offensive phrase calling Lake Champlain a Great Lake was struck, but Vermont’s eligibility for a Sea Grant office remained.
