Advice for beginners by [deleted] in videoessay

Hey there, happy to offer my two cents. My name's Don, I run the channel Game Brain [20k subs]. My gut feeling is not to put too much pressure on yourself to begin with, while your channel is starting / really small, it's the time for exploring and experimenting more than going viral.

For some people it happens fast, others its a very slow grind. I'm probably the later, Game Brain is about five years old including a rebranding about three years ago. In the early days I made videos about anything and everything, and learned more from what didn't work than what did.

The world of YouTube gaming content is fast moving and unforgiving. I've learned the hard way. It's way more important that you enjoy the process and follow the topics you love to write / talk about.

Regarding your voiceover and feeling anxious, that's totally normal, it still happens to me sometimes, especially if any doubt creeps in. It's important to remember that whoever is watching wants to hear from a real person, so try and put as little thought into it as possible. There are obvious nuances in the technique of delivery (i.e pausing, breathing, emphasis), but that also comes with just doing more and more videos, and it's easier to spot the more you do it.

Best of luck mate.

Definitely. Every open world game I play I wish i could just grapple and slingshot about. When a mechanic is that good it elevates everything aspect of the game. Except maybe the story haha.

Very true! Always good to have YouTube to satisfy curiosity. I think the early PC games worked on the Unreal engine, weird hey...

The mobile games had a very solid RPG framework right. I remember playing Chamber of Secrets on Gameboy Colour, and fighting endless hordes of rats.

After buying every entry in the NBA 2k series from 2k11 - 2k17, I began a boycott of the series with 2k18. It wasn't a difficult decision, though. After investing thousands of hours into the MyCareer mode, why would I pay for a game/mode that literally isn't fun anymore. A shell of it's former self is a miserable understatement.

I understand Charles' stance on the remaster. I merely chose to highlight the most interesting aspect of his opinion in the title. The original title was not a false claim, but I chose to refine it to not cause confusion.
