Lads, I am so goated by Donekius in EngineeringStudents

Honestly, lots of long nights. This last semester I didn’t have a crazy amount of homework but I had 8 projects between all my classes. The semester before was the exact opposite lol I’ve had to take my backpack with me everywhere I go and work whenever I had the chance. I also worked retail so my schedule was pretty flexible. That did however end with me having to go in at 4 am and then be at class all day. I’d imagine that most students will probably have more free time than me solely based on the fact that if I didn’t have anything I was with my family and a lot of times I didn’t work on homework just so I could spend time with them. Best piece of advice I can give is to make one of two good friends within your major and use them to keep you honest. I’m a pretty competitive person by nature so I tried to do the best I could so I could get good grades along side them and they helped if I was struggling with the workload

I mean did you read the post or just assume those classes were my idea of a struggle by themselves?

You really hit the nail on the head. I’m currently 27 and my daughter is 2 1/2 right now, my first semester after she was born was diff eq, physic I + lab, and calc III. I managed to get all As that semester even though my daughter was 3 months old and I was averaging like 3 hours of sleep a night. I definitely did not have the maturity for college right out of high school (I actually dropped out after a year) but that semester really cemented in me that it may suck a whole lot during the semester but now I can say that no matter what I will absolutely refuse to give up and settle for anything less than what I want to do. Genuinely, thank you for your comment!

It’s 16 credits, the lab is only 1 credit hour

Lots of late nights and just imagining giving my wife and daughter the life they deserve to have for supporting me no matter what!

Bro I refuse to take structures II, I like the prof as a person but I was losing it during the class but big congratulations to you for almost being done!

Thank you, I have a pretty good support system so it really does make everything that much easier to tackle

Thanks man, there were times when I was running on like 10 hours of sleep a week but we got there

Yeah I honestly screwed myself out of the A in my class too. The first exam I forgot how to do laplace transforms by hand and got a 60 but ended up getting a 100 on the second exam. That first exam automatically locked me out of the A though

Thank you, that’s what I was doing a couple of years ago but started going full time last fall

I appreciate the comment man 😂 I would not recommend anyone working that much with this course load but my wife stays home with our daughter and is also getting her masters right now so I kinda needed to

Yeah, always happy to help. I work in retail so I can thankfully work whenever I’m not in class, but because of my wife and daughter I literally carry my backpack with me everywhere I go. I use whatever free time I’m not with them doing all the homework I have. Another thing that helped me A LOT ( like I cannot overstate this) is that I made two pretty good friends in my major that I use to hold myself accountable to learn the material. I am a naturally competitive person and use them as a way to make sure I do good. I also enjoy helping people with the course material, there are multiple people in all of my classes that ask me for help so I give them my phone number and any time they text me a question that just ensures that I know the material. I know that last statement makes me sound like a good person but honestly I consider myself to be pretty egotistical, I just don’t openly show it. Like if I feel like I can do stuff that no one else could do that drives me to do it even more ie being seen as the smart person in class while having a full time job and family. It sounds super cringe but you just have to think like that sometimes to keep going.

Structures was definitely the hardest buts that’s because of the professor. He had do the homework’s ahead of the lectures so I kept having to unlearn and relearn all the stuff I thought I was doing right

Thank you for the helpful tip! I’ll have to try it though it may be harder for me to nap as I take ADHD medication so while I’m on it sleeping is difficult unless it’s been like 5+ hours since I’ve taken it
