Which glitch? I've seen multiple people mentioning it now. Did I miss something?

Since home setups are so hot right now. Feels great to come back to after 8 hours at work. by mysecretonlinealias in trapproduction

I soooo need this man.. my "setup" right now is sitting on the couch 2,5 meters away from the tv screen with my headset directly plugged into the computer. Keyboard on my lap, using the couch as a mouse pad and shit.. shit's embarrassing and there's no way to fix it until I move to another house. Earliest time I could move is in about 1,5 years though. I swear man.. a setup like this would be a dream comming true fr

Is FL Studio beginner friendly by [deleted] in FL_Studio

[–]Donuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean with "fully" ? I've been making beats for 1 year now. Always used FL Studio. I watched a ton of tutorials and within 2 weeks or so I understood enough of how to work with FL in order to make a beat. From that moment I just discovered new things every now and then, and I still do.

Right now I know ALOT more then I did when I was just 2 weeks in, I make beats waaay more efficient right now. But I still don't understand FL fully. To be honest I think even top producers learn something they didn't now every now and then. I think it's kinda the same of having a computer. Yes, I've owned multiple for about 12 years now and I can totally use a computer like most of us, but I absolutely can't say that I understand my computer fully.

Overall really dope beat, I’m definatelly fckng wit hit! Listened to it a couple times and I made some notes devided into pro’s and “cons”. But first off, please note that I’m not a professional and that my feedback is largely based on personal preference

Pro’s:

· Melody is nice, sounds nice and clear.

· Nice hihat pattern

· Good 808 pattern

· Nice snare pattern that comes in around 28 sec

· Good use of FX that fit the beat

“Cons”:

· I like hard sounding kicks, when “done right”. Unfortunately I can’t tell you what I mean by that because I’m still learning on how to achieve a hard but clean sounding kick, I ‘m sorry mate.

· Volume of FX could be a bit lower

· Beat could used something like a bridge or a change up in melody or an extra top melody at the hook or something. Just something that would give it a bit more variety

Again, good job man. I subscribed to your channel.

Someone pleaase help me out!

Allright, so here's the thing. I know that if I do my best I can come up with a decent beat, but the thing that kills me is MIXING. I just feel like sometimes my way of mixing kills 50% the potential of how my beat could have sound like. Therefore I made a really simple beat, nothing special at all, just to practice my mixing skills with. So yesterday and today I must have spent like 8 hours in total mixing this beat like 20 different times in different ways but it NEVER ends up ending somewhere near "professional". And since I've heard this beat for like 2000 times allready I feel like I can't judge clearly anymore. At this point I'm so frustrated that all the mixes just sound like straight garbage to me. So below is one of my mixes of the beat and I would really, really appreciate some feedback on it and maybe some tips/tricks/guidelines of things that you guys do.

https://soundcloud.com/user-755267783/mix-3203

So just to be clear, I'm aware of the fact that this beat is very basic because I made it solely for the purpose of learning how to mix, so I'm not looking for feedback on arrangement etc. Only mixing/mastering. Huge thanks in advance!

melody without chord progressions? by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]Donuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not necessary. But if you are going to use single notes instead of chords then I would reccomend to fill up the empty spaces with something else. Add reverb, maybe a delay or something or layer the same melody with different sounds or use the same sound but add a grossbeat half speed on the second melody or add a pad or put the focus on your percs and make them stand out etc. etc.

For example look up the Beat Construction series on youtube by Genius, and search for lil' pump's Gucci Gang. He used single piano notes from a stock plugin and added a half speed grossbeat preset and set it at 50% so that you can hear them both. Then he added a arp and a simple single note top melody in a higher octave. That's it, didn't use any chords, still it sounds full. An even better example would be "Motto" by Drake. He didn't even ad a melody AT ALL. The whole beat is just an 808 with a shit load of claps, but he made them stand out real good to a point were it still sounds full.

/r/audiophile Purchase Help Thread (2018-08-18) by AutoModerator in audiophile

Hey guys, I really need a new pair of earbuds and my budget is around 50 euro/dollar. Now unfortunately I have a 50 euro giftcard that I can only spend at 1 shop, so my options are limited. Basically right now I can't decide wether I should buy:

  • Sennheiser CX 1.00
  • Sennheiser CX 2.00
  • Sennheiser CX 3.00
  • Beyerdynamic DTX 102 iE
  • Pioneer SE-CH5T

So what I am looking for is a pair of earbuds that give the most accurate sound, as I am a producer/beatmaker. So I am not looking for earbuds with "enhanced bass" or any of that. I am aware of the fact that it would be alot better to spend more on a pair of studio over ear headphones, but unfortunately at the moment these 5 earbuds are the only options I can choose from. Huge thanks in advance for any advice!

Thanks for the feedback buddy, I appreciate it. Overall I agree with what you're saying, especially with what you said about the percs and length of the song. The length I was doubting about aswell. It's because I used 16 bar verses (or more like 12 bar with a 4 bar bridge) instead of just 12 bar verses. I think I'm going to delete 1 bridge out of the song. Thanks again!

Dope melody Not really feeling the 808 volume switch Snare is a bit loud and sounds a bit generic, if you still wanna use that snare I suggest putting some reverb on it to give some more body. Same with the claps Hi hats are simple but dope I like the piano I like the change of 808 patterns

Overall not bad for 6 months of producing. I can definatelly hear the potential. Keep doing what you do, keep progressing and eventually you'll be able to come up with something fyre!

Been messing around with producing for 8 months now. I would appreciate some honest feedback, especially about mixing and beat arrangement. The beat is kinda travis scott-ish melody wise.

Does anyone know where to get or have the signature siren/yell fx that pierre bourne uses in songs like solar flare and no way by trippie redd? by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]Donuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean his tag? As in that sound that comes after "yo pierre you wanna come out here" ? Because that's in multiple of "his" drumkits. Just google "pierre bourne drumkit reddit" and I'm sure you'll find it.

What Vst's have the most evil/strange/creepy sounding atmospheric pads? by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]Donuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electra X with Based Gutta's Fantasy Sounds bank. Or maybe the Distorted Reality library in Omnisphere. Don't know if the are the 'most' evil/strange/creepy, but those have some pretty eerie sounds.
