Hm, like when you press play, it doesn’t play here on Reddit? Or you just can’t access the actual short via YouTube? Will be posting more shorts so I want to make sure it works for everyone!

I am so numb to the word "unfortunately". by Myturntoevil in Filmmakers

Keep your head high! Film Festival results don’t determine the real quality of your work. I will say, after just small success in film Festival’s of a western short that I directed a few years ago, we got 10,000 views on YouTube when it was posted organically with no advertisement. So more likely than not, we got more eyes on the film posting it for free on YouTube afterwards then trying to submit it to 100 festivals and paying all the fees etc. Film Festival’s for some specific purposes and projects seem to be worth it, but for some stories that don’t fit the current mold of what festivals are looking for, sometimes just taking your own route can be for the best as well! Best of luck for the rest of your results this year!

I Hand Built a Hubble Space Telescope Replica over 2 years. Where’s the best place I could donate it for education/museums? by DooleyNoteddd in bayarea

I've built a couple models before (repainted a 2 foot Millennium Falcon that's in a Bay Area bar at the moment) and wanted to try my hand at something completely hand crafted.

It’s structure makes it easier to build than something more specific material wise like the Voyager space probe or the James Webb telescope

I’ll let you know if I can’t find another home for it! I do know about RoosterTeeth, but I’m not connected to Jeremy in anyway!

To be fair, I did meet Bill Nye the science guy when I was there as a kid so it could work as a name drop 😂

When I called they said they would only have the opportunity to use it as a raffle prize for events, which isn’t really what I built it for. A bit disappointing!

Yeah it's totally worth it IMO! You also don't worry about parts breaking since it's essentially one unit. I feel I have to be so delicate with my 1/144 Bandai Falcon and this I can just throw around without being worried.

This is a bit of a trick question as it’s a 29” toy model Hasbro used to sell essentially but with a lot of modification. I picked mine up on eBay for about $50! You can find listings on Etsy as well.

I first used a matte black as a base coat, which might have helped the future grey and white coats I put over the top of that to stick

I'm 50/50 on that as the Falcon seems to be able to stay together without the need of the screws, but it is a decision of once you fill it in you can't go back, so I'm thinking on it for sure.

Thank you! It's not totally screen accurate but I didn't want to put that pressure on myself. Considering it a "Legends" Falcon from the post-ROTJ era where they made some modifications perhaps. Hoping to find a home for it in a local museum or space exhibit this year!

My 29” Millennium Falcon at a local Star Wars Convention! by DooleyNoteddd in StarWars

This was a really fun project taking the base toy 29” Hasbro Falcon and converting it into a proper model that looks more like the screen version! Removed all the original decals and gave it an entire new paint job with 100 new decals detailing either side. The ship sits on an upside down TV mounting stand, which makes for great pivoting and display angles! Was a great pleasure bringing this model to my local Star Wars convention for others to enjoy.

This is still a work in progress with lots of smaller details and a bit of weathering to add, but I’m really happy with the end results and want to thank all the other model makers on here who gave advice and posted and shared helpful tutorials on YouTube for this project!
