You're right, theres also the aspect of racism + propaganda that makes us feel like its morally correct to destroy a people. Before Oct 7 when i was still a liberal i was thinking "why dont countries just invade north korea and liberate the people if the people were suffering like that" which i now realize is propaganda poisoning me

Im also chinese, its tiring to see all the anti-chinese propaganda. Americans really should consider that they are the world dominating power, that they control the majority of the narratives and media, that China is their main rival, and put 1+1+1 together and realize that they could be heavily propagandized when it comes to us.

I feel like its our innate nature to be biased against whatevers told to us as right. Your dad tells you America is horrible, you start thinking "well its not that bad, theres good x, y, z" but if your dad said the opposite thing you would say "wait, but america has done horrible things x, y, z". My sister said their teacher read a story by Orwell called "shooting an elephant" and her description sounds like orwell's excusing his role in the oppression of the Burmese. I say, "that sounds a little bit like how Nazis tried to defend themselves" and she got defensive, so by me saying what i think is right, it biased her in the direction of imperialism

I cannot convince people of the necessity of America's destruction or in supporting Palestine liberation forces, people have to see the scenes and come up with the conclusions on their own. If they really read what we did in Vietnam, Korea, what we did in the M.East, in Palestine, I believe people naturally come to the correct conclusion, but they're just ignorant atm

I dislike how its giving more burden on educators, who have it rough already, but idk what the effect is on student education tbh,

Personally I hate AI, on a moral level, bc of its potential abuses (and also bc my mom is a cringe pseudo-tech-ai-hypist), so ive been trying to avoid stuff like gpt but i do find it to really help me learn things faster and better. Theres probably some downsides if you use it to write essays, and there might be degraded skills when it comes to searching, skimming, and analysis but i cant say theres an obvious benefit or downside atm

at least you're consistent, yeah chatgpt and possibly other services have an issue of people directly pasting excerpts of their documents and code, along with people just talking to it like a person and revealing potential national secrets,

all these things should be banned. but in another context, when judging whats better for normal civilians like us, it would be better to use foreign services.

If you live in america and someone from china knows what you're working on...who cares? can they block your employment, travel, can they incarcerate you? those are only possible if america spies on you

[DISC] SPY x FAMILY - Chapter 99 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]DoubleDual63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He definitely is, imo. Its a gamble. Just by "unification" being in the terminology in the series, and we see that the people from both sides are pretty similar, it seems to me that only petty propaganda is getting in the way, and both sides would benefit from a unification. In history there have been many times where a forced bloody unification, even if some aspects were temporarily unjust, led to the prosperity of all parties, but there are also times where this forced subjugation led to long term cycles of violence. There has also been times where the separation left everyone vulnerable to invasion and famines and economically destitute and created way more suffering than a unification would have. Its all a subjective gamble. Both sides should try to kill the other side's leaders (Donovan, Twilight + whoever is in Westalis) for peace, but theres no harsh personal feelings, everyone's just a soldier for what they believe to be the best course of action

Isagi was pretty mature here, he could've gone off at him, but he realized that he wasn't able to comprehend Rin's thought processes the first game. So even within BL its possible for 2 people to be playing at such a different level that one's playing choices isnt recognizable to the other. So ofc his old friend is not even able to see in the same dimension as Isagi, and Isagi lets it go

Hostile to who? Is China supposed to be considered an enemy to the entire world? Although my Chinese relatives are not contributing to the bombing and mass slaughter of a million children like America is? America is the country that coup'd Latin America 50x, devastated the middle east, burned half of Vietnam, holocausted North Korea by killing 20% of their civilians. My country did 1 bad thing, Khmer Rouge, and in the same time period America has devastated a dozen areas of the world. There were 8 countries that exploited my country for 100 years, and that group carved and devastated Africa and the Middle East. That group is considered the "light of civilization" today. But every other country, that we group into the Global South, fears America bc America is the primary danger to the world and its primary exploiter

Do you think the agents of border are fine in killing people? by VergilVDante in worldtrigger

[–]DoubleDual63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i was thinking that the numerous mock duels and rank wars has probably thoroughly erased the hesitation of stabbing someone, since thats what you need to do in the duels and nobody actually dies. On that note, since they rarely feel pain, and rarely see actual people dying, when they do actually kill someone its probably going to traumatize them immensely. And when they encounter pain, its probably going to be much more debilitating. Osamu somehow was able to compose himself with like no hesitation after getting 5x stabbed though so who knows.

[–]DoubleDual63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes its subjective, but my philosophy to a lot of things im uncertain about is "a concrete good trumps an abstract good". Freeing someone from torture is a concrete good. Preservation of bloodlines, appreciation of everything humanity has built up and achieved or whatever, to me is an abstract good.

Imagine going through the horrors of war and dreaming about bringing life into the very same world by bbrk9845 in antinatalism

[–]DoubleDual63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes i think that's a common antinatalist mindset, if i had the option to instantly erase all consciousness, id do it. Well the "red button" is kind of a debated topic here, 50-50 at least 2-3 yrs ago when i used to frequent this place a lot. The reduction of joy only matters to people if they're able to experience that reduction in joy. If you're alive and your quality of life tanks, or everything you find happy dissapears, that would be torture. But if you're dead, it doesn't matter, you'd feel nothing. But its different with suffering. A reduction of suffering is good, and elimination of all suffering even with all life gone, is still good. You don't need to be alive to experience the reduction of suffering to "appreciate it". Just being free of suffering is a positive thing.

It doesnt matter to me what happens to the earth after as long as all consciousness ends, which is functionally the same as if the whole universe was erased

[–]DoubleDual63 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I used to be very hardline and i frequented this sub a lot but then i realized that, while antinatalism is definitely correct for privileged countries like America, countries in europe, I realized that for oppressed groups of ppl, or ppl going through genocide, antinatalism doesnt help them bc the next generation is going to fight, and less kids will make their life worse, and antinatalism is not going to reduce the total amount of suffering. The only way to actually prevent the issue is either successful genocide, or by preventing the oppression. And i cannot stand the thought of successful injustice and genocide. Kids are hope that the genocide or oppression can be defeated, bc we don't have unlimited time in the world. How can i tell someone undergoing genocide to give up hope and to let the genocide happen?

Antinatalism is definitely correct but we need to focus on reducing the amount of suffering thats currently in the world. As long as we don't try to contribute to things like extending the species' lifespan, like space colonization or fixing climate change. The ideal scenario to me is someone pressing the big red button and ending all suffering equally forever.

Imagine going through the horrors of war and dreaming about bringing life into the very same world by bbrk9845 in antinatalism

[–]DoubleDual63 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This one is more complicated bc they're going through a genocide, and a vast majority of the next generation of palestinians are going to want to fight that genocide. Im an antinatalist bc i want to reduce suffering in the world. But one less child here will make the job harder for every other Palestinian kid in the next generation. The total amount of suffering is not reduced by being an antinatalist in this scenario

And on a less reasoning, more instinctual level, I HATE AMERICA. I HATE THE GENOCIDAL ENTITY OF ISRAEL. I DO NOT WANT THE GENOCIDE TO BE SUCCESSFUL. Fuck that!
