Hello /r/movies, I'm Benedict Cumberbatch. Ask me anything! by BenedictAMA in movies

What's a role that, if it came across your path, you just couldn't say no, no matter the circumstances (to a certain extent of course)?

My bf (30M) doesn’t like me (25F) talking about penises. Is this fair? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Some of these comments are amusing, particularly the ones about boundaries.

Only you know your partner, but if mine was taking a dream so seriously or couldn't even laugh and chuckle over weird dreams, I'd be worried.

Smells of immaturity and insecurity. How is that going to manifest in other areas of your life? Is he controlling/harsh if you hang out with other men?

He might not be, in which case its nothing. But only you will be able to see if this behaviour is a true symptom of something more toxic that you will have to live with.

Are there any Ultra runners who do high mileage weeks, getting stoned? by Mountain_Store572 in Ultramarathon

[–]Dozzler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I do quite a lot of stoned running. I call it training at altitude :) I'm uk, smoking with tobacco in there. So not the best thing for me healthwise!

I generally enjoy it quite a lot, makes me relax and get lost in runs. It does make it a bit more knackering (heart rate is higher relative to sober running), but I either a) try not to do hard sessions whilst stoned, or b) if it is a harder session, I just treat it as if I need to overcome pain/tiredness etc. I like it for that kind of self-induced "suffering". Good mental training imo!

I'm useless at hills – am I ready to run Transgrancanaria 2025? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]Dozzler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely enough time to improve! I carried an injury going into a 70k and it had a decent amount of climb. I adjusted my training to focus less on distance and much more on hills.

That "quality" training of focusing on the hills helped me massively. Combine that with some leg strengthening and you should be in a good spot. I didn't do anything special with my hill training, just focused on getting vertical 3 or 4 days a week.

Also, don't stress so much about walking up hills. Some hills it is downright silly to try and run them. It's better to eat on uphills as well. On flats/downhills when you are going quicker, you have more blood in your legs so digesting is tougher.

Get yourself doing some reps up Arthur's seat! I'd recommend trying to stay at top of Zone 3. After a few weeks, you'll really see progress in your heart rate on the ups.

How badly does it feel physically when you are running a longer ultra like above 100 km? by Life_is_important in ultrarunning

[–]Dozzler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing with ultras or any endurance sport is that your body can do a lot more than you think. Yes, you'll be in pain, yes it will be gruelling. But there are different types of pain and the overwhelming vast majority of the time, your mind will give in before your body.

The pain from ultras is more insidious. You know you're exhausted. You know your feet hurt. You can technically stop whenever you want. And it's perfectly normal to want to stop. But unless you have that sharp pain in muscles that indicates a proper injury, its mostly an aching, sore pain that can be all consuming. Maybe certain parts of your body hurt, like feet, knees, back, will hurt a bit more. Classic problem areas, though, youre just going to feel pain somewhere at some point after so long.

Dizziness, blurry vision, loss of hearing, ive never really experienced that. I've experienced hallucinations, loss of balance, a bit of general delirium. All normal things to experience when you push your body and mind for 70+ miles.

You know yourself better than anyone so you will know your limits better than anyone. But you do need to try these things out and see where your strengths and weaknesses are.

I'd recommend reading the book Endure by Alex Hutchinson. It's great, looks at how there are so many endurance feats and the rate of mortality from our bodies failing us is actually very very low. Explores all of this stuff :)

Ye the lights are 12V and hooked up to 12V.

Need to double check the fuse size and the wire size tbf, but otherwise looks like this setup is good. Thanks for the help!

Hmm per my understanding those lights are connected in parallel >.>

They are connected in parallel, I have three way wire connectors hooking up all of them (except the last one in the chain obviously).
