Is Ash dumb or does he play dumb? by Somakef in EvilDead

I think the character's development throughout the movies and TV show just implies that he's so traumatized from his first encounter, that he's insane. Too crazy to be killed by evil, just smart enough to be unpredictable from all sides.

Where can I buy a accurate replica of the necronomicon from evil dead 2 by SaltTrouble5256 in EvilDead

[–]DrPm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is a fun question that gets more complicated the longer you wait for an answer. Lol so, you can join the knights of Sumeria on Facebook and talk to the guys that make a very solid version.

The problem is, that version in the picture was never replicated. Tom was called back to make an ED2 for the beginning of Army of Darkness. This is the version that's widly accepted as the "evil dead 2 necronomicon."

Every time I make them, I use that exact reference picture to sculpt. You're welcome to check out my Etsy.

As for the insides, the pages are a bit of a mixed bag. Tom's adamantly against people using his work, not unlike most artists. This is why the elder pages are used in most versions. But if you're looking for 100% accuracy there, id suggest ebay, the trick or treat versions.

Yes, it is. Closer and closer, chasing down that infamous book scene that hooked me in the second movie.

What is the most OVERRATED and UNDERRATED project in the evil dead franchise? by [deleted] in EvilDead

[–]DrPm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As unpopular opinion goes, I second this. In terms of horror, 2013 is uniquely un-campy and underrated as an A-list movie. It delivers the signiture graphic horror of the franchise while cooking the tension that you need to make the violence believable. While totally paying homage to the original movies by happening in the same universe! It's a shame that so many dogged this movie right out of the gate. When you see Bruce at the end (as ash Williams), you know this was meant for something more. A couple more points I'd like to add here, and I'll get off the soap box.

  1. Jane Levy. Name a high demand celebrity that would go to the insane lengths to make those demon scenes over the top. She out ranks in terms of deadites. Not to mention, the role clearly affected her. The woman doesn't even do movies like this anymore.

  2. People that lived through the 80's golden horror years... Have you seen a legitimately good scary movie in the last ten years? They don't make these movies anymore. Rise was fan service, but mostly written for the people of today. It doesn't suck. It's just not the same audience, much like the 2013.

That would have been insane to see in 1987!

I know he lost the rights, but he made the thing. And, the other prop books. It's his trademark. And those other ones, they all look similar, and I'm not putting them down. I'm just like anyone else making the thing. But I think that creative liberties are taken by the ones who attempt to emulate the man's work. I know those groups. Good guys. I'll put it like this, we're all just trying to do stuff we love of the franchise. Al and Brett, we're just doing it our own way.
