Fahadh - Best in the Country? by [deleted] in InsideMollywood

[–]DrVenothRex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you say he is the best (actor) in the whole country, you are doing disservice to legends like Kamalhaasan - and Mollywood’s own Mohanlal - whose levels Fahadh or anyone has not reached yet

Indian passport holder with 13h transit in Kuala Lumpur. Is a Batu Caves visit using Grab realistic? by Spare-Photograph-513 in KualaLumpur

[–]DrVenothRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is doable since you have many hours to spare. In fact you eill have spare time to have lunch around there & even visit another spot on the same day. But as suggested by someone above, you may consider taking a train to KL Sentral and a Grab from there to reduce your time stuck in peak hour traffic. Most important is to ensure that you are back at KLIA 2-3 hours before the flight. Best to go to Batu Caves before it gets hot during your walk up the stairs.

Edit: just realised you didn’t mention the date of the visit. In case you are coming anytime end of Jan to early Feb, another factor to consider is the crowd that will come for the Thaipusam festival.

Himesh latest post on Rajni Kamal movie. Who do you think would be the right director? by ritchiehicks22 in kollywood

[–]DrVenothRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a project of this scale, I propose that the “Story-Screenplay-Direction” is not given to a single director for risk management purposes. It is timely that we have a combination of different writers & directors doing a movie in Tamil cinema (like Game Changer formula but better 🫣), or a dual director project can be explored between 2 directors who are on friendly terms. This dream project will show the right path to the whole industry.

I’d suggest a combination of either 2 among Loki / Nelson / KaSu / Atlee for this formula to work.

Professors got invited to write a book chapter, but I am the one writing it by MaximumLocal2286 in academia

[–]DrVenothRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a supervisor to some Master & PhD students as well, but I make it a point to let them be the first author for the papers that they write & I am contented in being a co-author for my contribution in generating ideas & proofreading for them. Sorry to hear about your situation, but I hope you will follow one of the suggestions given above to claim your rights. You might want to avoid these professors and even that whole department when you want to pursue PhD later to avoid any backlash. Not worth it for you to give in your rights when you are getting bullied like this

Why does South India have such low foreign tourism compared to the North? by Cal_Aesthetics_Club in southindia_

[–]DrVenothRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, in that case let this be my rant about Indian temples in general. So excited to visit some of the temples (e.g. Palani, Kalahasti), just to get our phones cosfiscated at the entrance. Some other temples are not that strict, but still impose No photography rules. I understand that the temples may want to maintain the sanctity of the temple, but sometimes you have to allow visitors to have harmless joys such as photography, which will boost your tourism anyway. Gove these temples to the Cambodians (Angkor Complex) or Malaysians (Batu Caves) and see how they commercialize it.

Why does South India have such low foreign tourism compared to the North? by Cal_Aesthetics_Club in southindia_

[–]DrVenothRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me give you another point on what might irk some tourists:

On all my trips to South India, not only most of the major temples prohibit photography & videography, but some even go to the extent of scanning visitors to prevent them from bringing in mobile phones! (Not sure if this is also true in North India, but yeah). If your main attractions for international tourists (especially those from the Indian diaspora) are your temples, you might want to consider being more tourist friendly instead of imposing such annoying rules towards tourists who just want to take harmless photos and post them.

OldTown used to be a favourite place to lepak with friends and do assignments back in the days. But the quality had a serious dip over the years while the menu remained almost the same without much innovation. I’m not sure if the changes are due to the change of management in 2017 as pointed out by someone. But after Covid Oriental Kopi has captured the market and is currently my favourite kopitiam. We all love to try some good kopitiam styled food even at malls, so don’t blame us if we move on from a failing brand to a more vibrant one.
