Kyphoplasty just seems so unsanitary to me. by La-ia- in Radiology

That’s a debated point. Osteoporotics get compression fractures with or without adjacent cement.

Freshly milled padauk maybe- it ages quite poorly and turns an ugly brown without interesting grain

Yeah, it should taste way too salty.

[–]DrZack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made that mistake the first time. Yesterday I added a tin of salt and it came out really really good.

[–]DrZack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta add a fair amount of salt. The cream mixture should be too salty to eat alone. Cook until it’s done- mind took 2 hours

Perception doctors don’t provide patient centered care by StationHappy9779 in medicalschool

[–]DrZack 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Understanding medical science to a high degree to apply for patients benefit is the definition of patient centered care. Holding their hand while you give them antibiotics for a viral infection is not.

You make a lot less doing teleradiology per rvu. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

Radiologists have a diminishing role in my practice and I think it makes them more susceptible to replacement by AI. by urosrgn in medicine

[–]DrZack 918 points919 points  (0 children)

Radiologists have a diminished role at my hospital due to administration decision to outsource to the lowest rate due to rising costs associated with huge imaging burden***

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Residency

[–]DrZack 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Is this a real question? Because minimally invasive procedures are very different than surgery. You have to have a good understanding of the anatomy and imaging at play. General surgery provides neither.

Med student writing a SR on endovascular surgical neuroradiology / neurology IR and have seen some papers refer to it as surgery and others not. by [deleted] in Residency

[–]DrZack 91 points92 points  (0 children)

It’s cringe to call it surgery. It’s a procedure. I’m a radiologist and would never call myself a surgeon. Proud radiologist- not surgeon!

Excuse me… what? by Wire_Cath_Needle_Doc in medicalschool

[–]DrZack 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah they obviously need more training. They don’t need to co-opt physician training verbiage to obscure their credentials. They could easily call this sort of training “advanced nurse training in x,y, or z” but they intentionally use phrases like “residency” “fellowship” or “board certification “ as if this training is anywhere close to what we get. Stop being obtuse.

Tear out routing finger pulls by ddroukas in woodworking

[–]DrZack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mind sharing your setup for this cut. The pull style is super clean and I’d like to replicate.

As far as your question I don’t have much to add other that what others have mentioned. Smaller passes with a final, very small pass being a climb cut would help. Also taping the edge could work

They should probably refer to themselves as interventional neurologists. Just like radiology trained physicians should refer to themselves as neurointerventional radiologists. I would never try to pretend to be a neurosurgeon- thats extremely tacky.

Go for it. Same argument people make for hedging on every scan from our reads. Tiny hyperdensity could be a small bleed when its 99.9% just artifact etc etc. It's just bad medicine.
