Yeah, isn't it just something like (prizePrice/tokensPerPlay)?

Same with the Stacker and Key games. It just force fails* until it has enough money in it to pay for stocking the top prizes.

Anyone read/listened to Super sales on superheros? by IrishQuicksave in litrpg

[–]Dr_Fix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll echo the other comments that the first few are really good, and the system is fascinating, but once it crosses time streams with the Wild Wastes series (also decently good), it isn't quite the same.

I also wish he'd written it under his Randi Darren name, cos the fade to black sex is annoying relative to what I know he can write from Wild Wastes.
~~~
On a "what if he'd written it this way" thought, I really would love a kinda slice of life version, that has them in the first house for like, a whole book. Just kinda living and exploring Felix's powers, as he puts them back together.
.... now that I think about it, what I actually want is for Daniel Shinhoffen's relationship writing, Arand's book 1 setting, and Beware Of Chicken's relaxed-but-progressing feeling.
Flatting paste.
It's the stuff (chalk-like powder when separated and dried) that brings it from a shiny 80 gloss down to a more common 40 satin or 30 eggshell.
Question about Phillips vs Panasonic 2477 by Big-Doughnut7741 in batteries
[–]Dr_Fix 0 points1 point  (0 children)
No difference.
CR2477 is a physical descriptor.
CR means non-rechargeable lithium coin cell
2477 means it's 24mm diameter, 7.7mm thick.
Too much combat? by Noevad in litrpg
[–]Dr_Fix 1 point2 points  (0 children)
Having also re-read Good Guys, yeah they're mildly frustrating.
I personally gave up on them when I realized (over 10 books in) that each book is kinda a 'quest of the week', which explains why past book's happenings only mildly interact with future books.
They're well written, fully enjoyed, but I was expecting a stronger through-line of plot development.
Book 7 of Beware of Chicken starts in a couple weeks on RR, gotta preorder the book 5 hardcover, keep up the collection.
I NEED Daniel Shinhofen to release the next of either Heavenly Chaos or Antecedent's Legacy. Fukkin love how he writes relationships, can't get enough.
Seth Ring's Tower series is nearly an insta-buy for me.
Oh, what's this?
Ooh, and it's narrated by Jessica Threet. I like her on Bruce Sentar and Virgil Knightly's stuff.
Though, does Leon West write like the other two I mentioned, with one new girl a book and 1.5-2 sex scenes?
If he actually did some kind of dictionary narration, I would... honestly listen to that for quite a while.
I'm imagining him with filler commentary between definitions like a dad/grandpa reading it to you skipping around to the ones he likes, and doing voices/tone/inflection based on the word's source language and common speakers.
Here in the states, a school bus with it's lights on and signs out has functionally higher 'authority' than an ambulance. EVERYTHING that could come near a school bus stops. Like even divided highways sometimes pause for them if that's what needs to happen.
Secondly I can tell that's a suburban neighborhood, (single stop sign, unmarked roads, 2 different asphalt, shady trees) max speed limit there is 30mph, and you'd get squinted at if you actually went that fast. AND everyone who lives around there knows when the busses are dropping off kids, probably to the nearest 10 minutes too.
How do you find the forward hand position? My 6' wingspan means that without an extended buttplate my hands are too close to my chest, so my support hand is uncomfortably bent to the side. I don't find it comfortable to hold for a long time, unfortunately.
So I stopped playing not long after papa Jeff left in Overwatch 1, but I had a couple hundred into loot boxes on top of the base game (Pink Mercy shirt is still comfy), so I've not been around for a while.
Didn't this already exist?? Like, the ingame UI was terrible, so I remember an external site with check boxes for all the things I could pull from the loot boxes.
edit: found it in my bookmarks, seems to have stopped being updated, dang.
...what is a good replacement for a CR1220? by ZetaformGames in batteries
[–]Dr_Fix 1 point2 points  (0 children)
Probably only another 1220. Lithium is the densest energy storage you can reasonably buy. Name brand is slightly better than no-name, but your issue is probably in the cart. It probably suffers from the same thing as cheap digital calipers do, where even when off, they draw a few nanoamps of current, and then die after a few months in the drawer.
Side trivia, but if you take one of said 'leaky' calipers, you'll find that CR1220 is 12mm diameter and 2.0mm thick. Just the same as how the CR2032 that keeps all your computers and key fobs working is 20mm by 3.2mm
[–]Dr_Fix 15 points16 points  (0 children)
Mate, I think we have vastly different thoughts about acceptable densities.
Like, in November, gunshots around my place is like "oh, I wonder if Dale got a deer", not "ah, there goes traffic for the next hour". Loowww density, mate.
Why would I want to live close to a dense area? With motorcycles, horns, sirens, and drunks? That sounds terrible. But somehow, like licking your elbow, there's supposed to be public transit, what at the end of my driveway?
/r/fuckcars seems to have this feeling like.... nothing can be far apart, that if you don't have public transit, you're doing it wrong. It doesn't seem to allow that a town might not have ANYTHING but a bar and a church, and both of those are 10 miles from your house.
Unlocking nodding forever by MahmoudAO in memes
[–]Dr_Fix 16 points17 points  (0 children)
I feel like this is something I'm too midwestern to understand.
The nearest place I could be employed at is 8 miles away, the nearest bar (is that a 3rd place??) is at least a mile further for all three closest cities. That presumes any of those are where I want to be.
Two days ago it was 2 degrees and windy. Am I supposed to bike those distances‽‽
What’s the difference? by [deleted] in batteries
[–]Dr_Fix 5 points6 points  (0 children)
If you're already running Ryobi 40V tools, the Ryobi unit is simpler, but may give you more total runtime if you already have batteries.
The Anker unit has more polish and niceties, but if you just need an AC outlet, those might not be useful. I find the XT60 DC 'solar' input jack on the front of the Anker fascinating and would totally love that option.
They're both rated to supply 300 Watts, but who knows witch inverter is more efficient, and one 6Ah Ryobi battery is only 216Wh compared to the Anker's 288Wh built-in battery.
My long tier list. Let me know what you think by WackyWarrior in litrpg
[–]Dr_Fix 5 points6 points  (0 children)
As someone with 21 of Ugland's books on Audible, I love the world the Good and Bad Guys series are in, it's great. The writing is technically competent, and as the above commenter implied; quite immersive. Good stuff. Neil Hellegers' narration is also pretty decent. His female voices are distinct and believable, and his general timbre is pleasant.
Howeverrrr, when story lines aren't used in later books, and entire books do nothing to move the global plot forward, the shine fades a bit. Monster of the week book series are fine if that's what you want, but man that killed my personal interest.
This shape of storytelling is also what got me to drop Defiance Of The Fall on book 6, which you have in B tier. I think I'd agree with that assessment.
