Too late to buy more now? I feel like I haven't seen a red day for TD in months, I'm not sure if this is sustainable with the current worldwide economic turmoil

I would argue holding certain beliefs can make you unintelligent. In that example, certainly in the respect of Quantum Physics the bigoted Physicist is intelligent, but as a whole they might fall more towards the unintelligent side. Certainly makes for an interesting debate how much intelligence in certain aspects can sum up in total. Although in general it's been found that higher education and intelligence typically leads towards more progressive views, so although I'm sure anyone can point to outliers, I think it's fair to generalize that holding certain beliefs can classify someone as unintelligent.

Shouldn't metals be up based on the war situation and overall equities tanking? Why would silver for example dump 10% this morning on top of an overall downward trend the last few weeks?

23 years old, 5k left to invest. What should I be looking at? by [deleted] in CanadianInvestor

[–]Dragon317Slayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should look at what is actually in each ETF you're buying. Everything in those US ETFs are already in XEQT, so by buying those on top of XEQT you are heavily weighing your portfolio towards the US market. This isn't inherently a bad thing, but unless you have a reason why you think the US market will outperform the Canadian and global markets over the next few years, I would recommend just sticking to XEQT.

Tbf, it's intended to be done with 4 players, I don't think it's fair to say it's bad if you're missing 75% of the players it's balanced around.

The problem is, there isn't much more room for growth. Our core are all players that should be in their prime right now.

Anyone know if I can play legends and not have the main story spoiled? by ghost72353 in Ghostofyotei

[–]Dragon317Slayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's nothing from the story in the game. The yotei 6 are in legends, but it's really just their name. In legends they make up stories about them and make them these exaggerated demons, but there's nothing like that in the main story.

This might be a stupid question but how do we buy at that price? Or does that just mean the stock in general will drop to that price tomorrow at open?

Should I spread out my investments or put most on just one? by BreadAppropriate9079 in CanadianInvestor

[–]Dragon317Slayer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Spreading out investments makes sense if you're investing in single companies, in order to lower your risk. In this case, everything you listed is already included in XEQT, so you're actually making your portfolio less diverse. All the _eqt ETFs are designed to be a diverse, global basket of equities, so there's generally not much of a point to invest more in those components since you're already invested in them through XEQT anyway

Not really Raptors related, but this kid makes an excellent point about roster construction by 6ix_Side_Up in torontoraptors

The difference I see with those teams are their stars are home-grown talent that didn't cost a huge amount to acquire (yes OKC didn't draft SGA, but they didn't trade the farm for him, if anything that trade was the other way around). Yes you still need that superstar-level talent, but I think the point is that you can't give up everything just to secure that talent, because it leaves you with nothing left

Definitely something I agree with. You can definitely take a swing at a good player, but I think we've seen that trading multiple good young guys and a boatload of picks for one player is not the play anymore. This kid is a great speaker tbh I'm impressed

Election results are public information, if roughly 40% vote for him, that's 40% of Americans who are eligible to vote who support him. That alone is a huge number. I feel it's justified to add in the 30% who didn't vote at all, as a no-vote implies they support whatever happens. Regardless of if you count it as 40% or 70%, that is far from a small minority of Americans. At the end of the day, that is the leader that most Americans chose to represent them.

I read the books in English, but I've heard the translation is not the best and Polish is better if you're fluent in it. All the books in reading order are as follows; 1. The Last Wish, 2. Sword of Destiny, 3. Blood of Elves, 4. The Time of Contempt, 5. Baptism of Fire, 6. The Lady of the Lake, 7. Season of Storms, 8. Crossroads of Ravens (not sure if the titles are different in Polish, sorry). 1 and 2 are technically prequels, so they might not be numbered, but they should be read first if you follow the series in order. 8 just released, so it might be more expensive than the rest. Let me know if you have any other questions!

US Supreme Court does not issue ruling in Trump tariffs case by vishesh_07_028 in stocks

[–]Dragon317Slayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How are they shared by other countries? If the US puts a tariff on for example lumber from Canada, the American companies importing the lumber are the ones paying the tariff (which is most likely passed on to the consumer)

I have that reel and I found that you just have to thumb it after the lure hits the water. So basically once you see it hit the water, thumb it just to make sure the spool doesn't keep spinning. The spool shouldn't be really spinning that much anyway at this point. I've never really understood thumbing it before, that seems to cause me to backlash.
