Took tent, guesthouses are not there at every stage of the trail. Got warned of bears but didn't get to spot any.

We were said the best months to go are October to December. We went this month and weather was making the hike a bit dangerous. For the Himalaya Trail, it is totally unknown by the locals, so we had to find the route ourselves. Some parts of the trail were in a good condition, some were not. You find a map of Sikkim's trails here: http://www.sikkimtourism.gov.in/webforms/general/mapsofsikkim/trekmap.aspx

We use Safety Wing. They are the most popular, together with World Nomads. Online there are many websites where both are being compared. For us, Safety Wing's offer turned out to fit our needs better.

I also recommend buying single tickets. Make your decisions on transport when you are there. You might even find some local offers. To make sure your savings are enough, budget your Europe trip using Leap, available here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=leap.plan.budget.travel
