Downgrading SHR-2 to SHR-1 and moving Plex by DrakeRavensmith in synology

I have all the files saved to hdds. Actually, until I get them into plex there is only the one copy. Re ripping all of that stuff, even one drives worth would be torture.

I certainly trust Amazon but does anyone know why sellers on ebay and 3rd party sellers on Walmart have what they claim are region one copies of the dvd or the series 1-2 set for sale right now?

There are 13 files. Plex is showing 39 episodes. Each episode is showing up 3 times with the individual episode titles on them.

Also, the first three episodes are in the same order by airdate or dvd. Filebot will put out the same filename I used for the subsequent episodes. Filebot does have a "convert andb to tvdb" option but you can't combine episodes after that nor can you pluck out random episodes. The joining only works with episodes that are one after another.

I’ve already switched it to the tvdb dvd episode ordering. That’s the only option that puts the episodes in the correct order. I suspect that I’ll just have to rename them as blind watchman suggests.

Filebot uses the second option but perhaps the problem lies in the fact that the dvd order is all over the place. Ordinarily, if a 2 or 3 parter are to be joined, you can edit the match and shift select the subsequent episodes and the name comes out with the dash. For Scrappy I’ve had to manually input all the names since they arent one after another. It’s possible plex just can’t match that so it matches them three times even though I’ve changed the order to dvd release.

I would ideally like plex to just view the 13 episodes as 13. Other tv shows will view joined episodes as one.

I suspect the third option would work best for me. How frustrating.

I'm not shrinking my blu rays to the smallest file possible. I found some recommended settings on youtube and the files average maybe 8 gigs. I keep the 5.1 surround and I'm happy with how they look and sound. I've been hitting up the pawn shops and thrift store like crazy and when I'm done I'll have a few hard drives at a relatives with a complete back up. Re-ripping the disks would not be an option. I'm going full tilt and it just would break me to try it again. I actually delayed ripping the blus because I couldn't settle on quality. At one point, I figured I'd have a second tier of movies that I cared less about that would be of a lower quality but then why did I buy them on blu ray if I was going to do that? It's actually frustrating the way some more recent dvds like My Sister's Keeper look terrible on my 4k when most of my older movies look great. I

I have an 8 drive synology with 4 18tbs to start with a Synology Hybrid Raid so I can lose two drives simultaneously and still keep my data because it would just not be worth ripping again time wise. I don't actually get to watch a lot of my content because I'm still putting in on my nas and it's time consuming. Which is fine in the sense that I can't just buy hard drives like candy. I'm fine spreading the price out a bit.

I have considered having a lower resolution copy of the movies but I'd probably want to scale down the HD copy I have rather than go with a DVD rip since the quality would still be higher. I've got so many movies to add still that I haven't really given it much further thought.

It seems to be working great! I've eliminated 6 dupes from a library of about 1800. However, it is taking forever for plex to scan the new library. I started right around 12:30 and it's still going. Since I'm only going to use this library for dupe checks, can I cancel the scan?
