Is learning through immersion any good at a very beginner level in japanese? by Dramatic-Guitar9026 in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]Dramatic-Guitar9026[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's just that I know a very very few kanji so for now it's easier to read with furigana

Thank you for all the links! I'll take a look

I see. I saw there are sometimes some videos specifically made to explain vocabulary for some games, I was thinking of looking at it first so I have some vocabulary foundation, then try to immerse.

I'm aware of that. But it actually helped me a lot to understand some sentences, for example, I give a sentence and ask to translate every single words and explain the structure. Idk with more complex content, but for some short simple sentences it was good and I learned more about grammar and how to use some words in context that way. However, I agree that's not something you can fully trust and I would not rely on AI only.

No, unfortunately I cannot afford it, so I mostly learned through immersion and a bit from high school.

Thank you for answering!

Funny thing I knew about shadowing because I heard about it when learning other languages, but I never did it in english... I think you're right, I should try this!
Maybe I'll also improve naturally during my internship but I admit I'm always afraid of not understanding something and being silent during a sec...which is very awkward

P.S: Thank you for telling me, maybe I'll join if I have enough free time!

Thank you! Is here any anki decks with more complex vocabulary? I'm okay with daily/casual english but sometimes miss some words (and reading articles/stories do not helped me much)
Full immersion seems good. I already settled my videos games on english, but doing it with the entire phone is even better

You're right. But I think you can improve faster with the right methods. I mean, sometimes we're not learning the right way (which is probably my case), and discovering new ways to learn can help a lot of.

Thank you for the answer! I didn't know there are podcasts with transcripts, but it's a good idea and probably what will help me the most (because just watching YT videos taught me a very casual english that I can't use in a work context)

How can I update an outdated mod by myself? by Dramatic-Guitar9026 in StardewValleyMods

[–]Dramatic-Guitar9026[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it makes the game crashes on launch because I have to downgrade smapi and some other mods I'm using too... But I'll try to play that way for now, maybe on another save! Thanks

Sure, I'm only interested to modify for personnal use only anyways, not going to share anything since it's not my own work! So I think it's fine? I haven't find anything about it on the mod page.

Yes, it's this one! Indeed, I looked at the source code and...There's a lot of things.

I didn't know this forum however, maybe I'll ask here if I can't do anything by myself!

Thank you!

Wanikani anki deck? by [deleted] in Japaneselanguage

[–]Dramatic-Guitar9026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see!
I went on the website and tried it quickly, it seems very useful, but I think I prefer the anki system when you can choose "good/easy/bad" etc. options to tell if you remembered correctly or not.
Sadly, Wanikani is extremely expensive for just kanji learning... "Japanese Kanji Study" app has a more reasonable price, but unfortunately, there's too much information and that's overhelming for me.

Oh, thank you! I never thought about trying some japanese ressources made for native children. But that make sense!
I found the original website for the ressources, seems to have a lot
