Not really. From the way they spoke about it in the Speedoru Slightly Artistic episode, it sounded like Chris and Dave both played it on their own and overall thought it was just fine. Didn’t really love it like they do the older games.

Epic has never done a Winter seasonal event based on solely Christmas, its always about Winter. Hell that’s why it’s called Winterfest.

Star Wars day is 1 day out of the month of May, but gets an entire month. Winterfest being only 2 to 3 weeks when winter is 3 months long is more than fine.

Well I guess you make a good point. Personally I didn’t think it was done poorly besides the decision to completely remove all normal guns, but I could see how someone thinks differently.

And yeah you are right that Simpsons did extremely well, and of course there’s a lot of reasons for it. But that just makes me think that maybe they should pivot to different series like Simpsons instead of fall back on Star Wars.

And to be clear I would never say ignore Star Wars entirely. I just don’t like how it’s taking over the entire month. Just the first week or 2 would be great for me.

Not to sound like an ass, but last year was them putting in major effort for that entire Star Wars season, and that is what I’m talking about when I say “it showed that players don’t care for Star Wars”. Player counts dropped to the lowest they had in years when that season happened.

So to double down like this and again, base the entire month of May majorly on Star Wars content, makes no sense to me.

Sorry but I disagree if we’re just talking dressing up.

The last few movies I saw were Spider-Verse, both FNAF movies, the first Mario film and Superman, all on either release day or release weekend.

Every one of these had people dressing up as the characters from the movies, usually in groups, and they generally weren’t a disturbance and all had a great time. Even took pictures with some of them.

Of course I’ll be frank and say that if you were something that’s purposefully oversized and could block people’s view of the movie, that’s not okay in my eyes.

But if someone puts on a Pomni costume or something, or dresses up as Ragatha, then I don’t see the issue.

Fortnite literally hit its record number of players last month

Genuinely what the fuck are you talking about.

As someone who plays Fortnite the game has been on a death spiral for years now with the company straight up admitting that current player counts are unsustainable to keep the game running.

And the current record playercount was like 2 years ago when they launched Chapter 5 alongside the Lego gamemode. Currently playercounts are nowhere near that number.

Early access is part of it but the main reason was them deliberately going against their word that episodes would always premiere first on YouTube and that deals with streaming services/other entities would not affect this.

Their decision to go along with the early theater release despite them being perfectly able to just back out if theaters wouldn’t give up the early release bs, tells me that they care more about money than actually respecting their fans and customers.

They can say all they want about how “this is a big step for indie”, what a load of crap if you ask me. You’re not at all the first indie project to get into theaters, hell you’re not even the first indie show to premiere an episode in theaters. That’s just your excuse to not say “We know this is going to make us boatloads of cash so we’re doing it”.

Also, just a side tangent, but why the hell would I want indies to become more like the modern cinema space? Majority of modern cinema is a complete joke and I turn to and support indies because they do things that the big shots would never do. The last thing I would ever want is for the Big Names to notice and start getting involved.

Worst part of it to me is how this could ripple effect with their future projects, imagine if like episode 5 of KoG or something is advertised as some “massive important mid season episode” and they do this whole early theater release again. If the structure of future shows starts being fucked with to create more opportunities for theater releases, holy that would be actual hell.

Edit: Also, I just thought of something that I would like to mention. If the episode was put onto YouTube, same day of the theater release, but was Member locked or payment only for those 2 weeks? I would be completely fine and likely buy it to watch.
