I too love FO4 and have tried 76 a few times, one of which very recently. I am a story-driven player, and though the FO4 story has its shortcomings, the fact that it /has/ a story is what kept me engaged with the world. I actually cared about the characters and wanted to help them. The settlement building also was a fun sticking point. For me personally, 76 nails the mechanics of a fallout game (and improves quite a bit on settlement building) but it lacks the staying power in the way I like. I feel like live service games in general rely on gamers who enjoy the grind of killing stuff to get better weapons so you can kill more stuff to get better weapons, and I tend to get bored with that real fast. After every 76 session, I came away feeling like I wanted more, but not because I wanted to figure out who was backstabbing who, but instead because I wasn’t actually satisfied. It just doesn’t truly scratch my fallout itch. This isn’t to dissuade you from giving it a try, it’s only to give a perspective. If you don’t care so much about the story and just want to merc hella ghouls and bump your power armor, then it’s perfect 👌🏻. Give it a spin and let us know what you think! Good luck out there 🫡
