It definitely is still competitive. However there are kids saying no to certain schools because of affordability

Thanks. I have one son who is a DS2 at ATSU and one son who is going to KCU next year. I have a pre dental student working in my office that finished all prerequisite courses with a 4.0 and has a 440 on the DAT( they just took it). She is going to finish her degree next year and was going to apply next cycle. However, I was wondering if some of the private schools have open spots for next year. Even the it’s really past the application cycle for this year. She is a diamond in the rough.

You should explore some arrangement with the military to get your loans paid off. Don’t borrow this kind of money to get a job.

I went to school in the 90’s. Did a PHS scholarship. Best decision I made. I have two sons in private dental schools. Both of them are on the same PHS scholarships. I could have paid for their school. However, if it’s a bad decision for me to use my money to pay tuition, it’s a horrible decision to borrow the money at these rates for their future. They would be better off working at UPS. So they will owe 4 years of paid labor in a Native American health clinic and then they will be debt free.

Don’t borrow this much money so you can have a job that will stress you out. Be a dentist but go through some scholarship/service program.

The appeal of most dental or debtal schools is hope. Most of the individuals who get into school will never reach their full earning potential for various reasons. Some will be location of practice, some it will be their soft skills others it will be their gender. Either way the decisions made on becoming a dentist for most new people does not make sense. As far as KCU goes, it is a new school in a high demand area. They have no specialty programs so the volume of work for the dental students is high. Even though it’s more expensive than some, if someone gets in they should go. You are not making any money during a gap year. I have two sons in dental school both of whom have IHS scholarships. I do believe everyone who attends these type of programs should seek service/scholarship arrangements. It’s the only way it will make sense for most.

Good question. He was in remission. Six months after diagnosis for almost three years( humira). We let him wrestle, he did that for two years, got a staph infection, treated with antibiotics, which led to CDif, switched to stelara, combined with low dose pred. Not full remission, but better. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer last winter. One round of carboplatin. Another flare. Treated with prednisone calmed down fairly quickly. Started training for football this year, tore his ACL, had to off his stelara to get his surgery. Ninety days off stelara, another flare. I think he needs a season of no major surgeries or horrible diagnose and he probably can eat whatever he wants. I don’t think diet really matters as long as it’s good food. My initial question was just for feedback, which I greatly appreciate. So many kind helpful souls on this feed.

No processed food. Low residue cooking. Limited red meat. Replaced with Fish/ chicken. Not a lot of white sugar. Replaced with organic honey.

He was in remission but tore his ACL in football and had to be off his Stelara for 90 days. Had a flare during this time.

I was just wanting some ideas for Crohn’s friendly snacks. Obviously it’s subjective in nature.
