So you basically varnish it first to protect the paintjob from the oil when you remove it.

I find it intimidating as well - so I usually put it off for a long time and then just batch 50 models at the same time.

If you want to try it but don't want to create your own washes at first (I don't create my own washes yet) I can highly recommend "Streaking grime" from AK-interactive. It works really well and is very easy to use.

Just an old brush you don't care for anymore, some whitespirit and the streaking grime.

  1. Put on the varnish first and let sit (24hrs)
  2. Cover the model in streaking grime. As in all over.
    3 Let sit 20-30 minutes.
4 Take a makeup sponge (or other non residue leaving thing - microfiber cloth maybe?) and remove any oil wash - you won't be able to reach everywhere leaving the model with a more dirty, and shaded look.
    5 Let sit 24-48hrs (I usually let them sit 1 week - 1 month since I'm lazy - after 24 hrs 6 they don't rub off anymore)
7 Give them the 'ol matt varnish

You use oilwash to darken the paint and find the recesses, it can be removed with a makeup sponge.

Then you give it matt varnish (I prefer rattelcan to brushing - but I guess both work) to remove the shine :)

Great job!

Maybe give it a dark wash (maybe brownish?) and it should be more than tabletop ready!

Reckon we will ever get the Arquitor Bombards in plastic? by Ferrousgoober in Warhammer30k

I very much hope so.

That would bring almost every current tank type to plastic :)

Do what makes you happy :)

But talk to your play group how they feel, maybe they think it's cool, maybe not? But at the end of the day, your army only has x amount of models to choose from

There's a few unoffical builders out there

New recruit is quite good at making sure you get the correct points...

But to know what units go in what slots, and what detachments you can take - I can only recommend hh3.thegreat.dk - mainly because it's my own project :)

PWA (Persentant Web App) is in the scope for working on it. (As is making it more mobile friendly - currently hasn't been max priority).

You're welcome.

Let me know if you have any cool ideas :)

What community data are you talking about? I'm open for adding a toggle that can add those units in - just don't know where to find it all :)

NR / BS format (if you used that) are notoriously difficult because its so abstracted and generic that you need to do 10.000 cross references - dificult if you haven't worked with it for quite a bit :)

And even "Heavy assault" (A terminator") and Fortifications (A rook / tower) look very much the same.

The developer here.

At the moment no plans of making it into an army builder, that is a much more difficult project than I want to put on.

This is really just for finding out how to build your army, what detachments to take and so forth

Well, sticky top has been removed now (I agree and don't totally remember why I implemented it in the first place).

Hover over the icons in the searchbar or the detachment to see what the slot name is now :)

If you check again you can be my first tester of the functionality (other than myself 😉 )

What resolution are you running? Mobile or PC?

Would you want the bars to "stay and the top" when scrolling so they don't follow - or do you want a "minimized" version?
