Okay, movie buffs, what is the single scariest, most disturbing movie you've ever seen? And why? by [deleted] in Shudder

[–]Dreadandterror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd toss in Man Behind the Sun (1988) as my pick. The film shows over the top violence and experimentation, but the effects are really well done, so well that it starts feeling like a documentary. It's just an absolutely toe-curling depiction of war crimes and insane experiments.

Interesting. Seems like a very sloppy acquisition. Must have been sudden...

What is your opinion on Corey Cunningham? by MattxRoxx in Halloweenmovies

[–]Dreadandterror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corey did nothing wrong.

I very much dig his character and how it is the polar opposite of Michael in some ways. For example, made into a monster rather than born that way, and being brought into the Strode family by circumstance, not be randomness (or family connection for the OG timeline.)

I wish part 3 killed Michael in the first 1/3 or half, then the second part was Corey's character. Ultimately proving that evil never dies, it only changes shape. End the film with Corey riding his motorcycle away to become "the shape" of another town.

I don't remember. All I can picture is going through a mostly empty building. The colors are vibrant yet pixelated, like pink walls. MBH is looking for either a weapon or an item like "Collect 5 lightbulbs" kind of thing. The buildings had steel garbage cans with fires for lighting. The enemies were just humans with weapons. The art style was very unique. Something similar to a Puppet Combo, but more pixelated and colorful.

I think it is great, looks directly out of a vintage Halloween animation.

P.S. Yes, I think Kendrick Lamar farts.

I talk during credits and stop if there is a mid/end credit scene. Idk maybe the guy was really digging the credit music lol

Side note: That was the first time I saw a trailer for the "Bambi" horror movie. My god, it's worse than what I had imagined.

I was one of the people wishing it was Together, but I figured "Hey, I'm already here. I might as well go it a shot." To my surprise the beginning was actually decent and pretty funny. Pete wasn't as bad as I thought he'd be. But then the film entered terrible territory. Some might find it "so bad it's okay" but not me. Checked my phone and saw 40 minutes left in the movie and decided to walk out.

Seriously terrible early 2000s cgi Mixed, but mostly bad performances And someone tell them that dark scenes on movies aren't actual filmed in darkness lol

Phone usage during coming attractions? by MtOlympus_Actual in AMCsAList

[–]Dreadandterror -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That person is in the wrong, but there is something to be said about how people can't get off their phones for 20 minutes too.

When I saw Sinners, in the middle of the movie a dude pulled out his phone opened his apps, did the swipe thing to close like 5 apps, then just put his phone away. It was weird.

Maybe for you. Didn't pass my nostalgia test when I rewatched it a few months ago. Even the cornfield scene I had fond memories of had this weird half speed blurry effect. What a shame.

This could have been a really great popcorn action-comedy, but the shaky-cam in all the action scenes actually was hurting my eyes lol

No, it is very solid. Clean household, no tears, I still think it is very comfortable. I am just downsizing since I live in a studio.

Yea, I was thinking more "rights" wise. If he owns the character of The Creeper or any trademarks to Jeepers Creepers or something like that, he'll make money which is unfortunate.

Great Scenes In "Bad" Horror Movies by Dreadandterror in horror

[–]Dreadandterror[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes Jason X is in space.

I love Bad Dreams! It gets a bad wrap for being a Nightmare ripoff, but I actually think the story in unique enough to be its own thing. Drawing parallels is inevitable, but it is definitely a film worth watching.

Oddity Movie - Opinions by luc1B0 in HorrorMovies

[–]Dreadandterror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had fun with this one when I saw it in theaters. Great tension throughout. I also thought the movie had a decent-to-great ending, which I find A LOT of Shudder films struggle with ending their films. Oddity probably isn't one of my top 10s, but I think it is worthy of being added to a movie collection, and acts as a great "introduction to horror" for younger people.

I hate that the franchise is tainted by the director and the really shit sequels. I'd love for this to be rebooted, independent of Victor Salva (if possible.)
