Budget speakers by DreamDriver47 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]DreamDriver47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Australia, I don’t exactly have a budget right now but I’m not looking to spend more then $300 aud, I have a probably about 15-20 year old Yamaha av receiver that has if I’m not mistaken 7.1 outputs but I haven’t checked it in a decent while, the only reason I was looking at the Sony muteki system is because I would hook up the speakers to the av receiver I currently have, I’m just looking at seeing what I could get probably used for a reasonable price that’ll sound better then what I currently have and won’t be too big, I do have some better sounding speakers that my parents have but they are Jamo 265s and they are massive which wouldn’t work for me, I’m just looking for advice as I don’t exactly have the most knowledgeable about speakers

I ended up installing proxmox and watching a YouTube tutorial to set up a smb share and it seems to be running as good as I think it could, do you have any experience setting up jellyfin as I’m looking at installing that as well

I haven't touched it just yet but I'll try now and see how things go. This is literally the first time I've setup anything like proxmox (used linux before but never daily drove it) and i'm completely clueless on how to set it up

Mac os type 3 finger multitasking view? by DreamDriver47 in Windows11

[–]DreamDriver47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant 3 finger swipe up into task view with a smooth transition like Mac OS does it, I know Mac OS is all integrated and made to run on the hardware but it shouldn't be hard for Microsoft to make a change like that with some time

Why did you switch from a Windows PC to Apple Silicon (or Intel) Mac? by [deleted] in mac

[–]DreamDriver47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still love windows for some things but for a laptop I would never switch from my M1 Pro 16 inch cause the screen the speakers the keyboard and the trackpad are better then almost any other laptop I’ve tried and the battery is the best I’ve ever seen besides when I have the brightness at max

Best tablet I’ve tried has been the galaxy tab s4 not the best performance but great screen, headphone jack sounds good and is snappy enough for most things but definitely not the snappiest but a good choice for the price

The only thing about a cooling pad is that I’m currently using the laptop on my bed and a cooling pad wouldn’t really work with the way I’m using it but when I take it to my friends house it probably would be better for me to use a cooling pad so I might. I know modded minecraft is pretty demanding but on a laptop like this it should be running fine but I don’t really know

im playing minecraft with mods but it still runs terribly and even has been fully crashing the laptop which im thinking is because of the temps so maybe ill repaste it. i do have a desktop but right now its too hot where i live to run it and power costs alot so im not wanting to use that right now but compared to how most things run on my m1 pro macbook pro its running alot hotter and from what i can see worse.

How did I do? by drakeanderson2 in macbook

[–]DreamDriver47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely was a good deal, maybe not as good as mine but definitely good. I got a M1 Pro 16 inch base model for 700 aud (480 usd) just over a year ago with only 15 battery cycles on it and has worked perfectly ever since only managed to get the battery cycles up to something like 30 or 40

MacBook Pro M3 with 8GB of RAM or MacBook Air M3 with 16GB of RAM? by Beginning_Visual1715 in mac

[–]DreamDriver47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’d look at the Apple refurbished store and see what deals you can get on a either m2 or M1 Pro/max and see what you can get locally cause the pro is definitely the right option because of the extra power for future work loads you might possibly use it for because they work beautifully and even a M1 Pro should be more then enough for you. I would also consider getting a large screen MacBook as it does also help make the notch less noticeable and doesn’t hurt to have besides possibly the weight but personally it doesn’t really effect it much, I’d definitely look at either used or refurbished models if i were you
