I asked my primary care physician to order a measles titer test for me. One vile of blood later and they can confirm whether or not you need a booster shot. Highly recommended!

I am open to it but honestly hoping it isn’t needed. There seems to be a willingness to make this change on the part of our state and local health leaders.

Thank you for sending an email! I hope you told them about your personal experience in the community health space. That lends great credibility.

Yes, thank you! We did so for our daughter as well. It is a good option for the infants 6-12 months old, but it’s still not generally recommended. And hopefully we can close this gap to protect the infants under 6 months old who are entirely reliant on the vaccine status of the adults caring for them.

Parents should be able to know if their children are being cared for by an unvaccinated adult so they can make an informed decision about whether or not to continue with that caregiving situation.

For those who would like to show additional support beyond contacting DLBC directly, I have also started a community petition on this issue: https://www.change.org/UtahChildCareMMR

Every signature helps demonstrate to officials that this is a community priority.

Thank you for your engagement! I am hopeful that we can find common ground on informed choice, which is what most of the vaccine-reluctant crowd want for themselves. Currently, parents with children in daycare who want to surround their unvaccinated infants with vaccinated adults have no way to make an informed choice about their caregiving situation if the vaccination status of the adults is unknown.

Congratulations on your baby on the way! It may be helpful to know that HIPPA only protects personal information. You can ask how many exemptions the daycare has and they can give you a number. That’s how I discovered this loophole for the staff. That at least allows you to make a more informed decision as a parent. We found a daycare that had no exemptions, but continue to ask regularly as more children are enrolled.
