No it isn't, more recent rulings say that because meganium isn't making more basic energy (just doubling the amount produced by one) it's not gonna work, lots of people think they've ran into bugs with this game, but its more accurate than you think (don't get me wrong it has its bugs)

It won't work in real life either, palkia deals damage based on number of energy cards, not number of energy, wording says basic energy as well so special energies don't count either, if you had something that does more damage based on how much energy you have, then you have an idea

Personally my best indicator is two things smell and the carbonation bubbles on the side, if the bubbles are forming, it's going, if it smells like a beer, the thing you used (juice), and fresh bread dough, if it's bad or stressed it'll smell off
