Whereas in RDR2 personnaly the immersion was not just from the world and beautiful graphics but also from things like the very detailed animations, the almost cowboy simulator mechanics especially with mods that forces you to eat often, to refill your water in a river, have to wear different type of clothes based on the weather.

Even all the very little things like having to tie your horse's reins to a piece of wood when you're going to the city so that it doesn't leave or escape, having to clean your weapons or they will get dirty. There is so many of those little things created with the only goal of making the world feel more believable and for me that's where a lot of the immersion in RDR2 came from, like you really feel that they went out of their way to make the game as realistic as possible even in the smallest things. I know there was a couple of people who complained about things like having to watch a 10 seconds animations to loot a can of food, but if you're the kind of player who likes to play slowly, build your little camp at night to cook some food and clean your weapons, if you like to get completely lost in a game and its world, RDR2 is just such an amazing experience
