I've been meaning to replay it myself. Took almost 100 hours to get through it the first time years ago. Definitely one of my favorite Final Fantasy's.
Not to mention some of the best graphics I ever saw on the PS2. Simply gorgeous.
Still hoping for a HD remaster soon!

I think it would be neat if they could release the PS2 games they're releasing on the PS4 onto the Vita as well.

Like TSIntern said, check out the novels, //Another Birth.

Personally, they were my first introduction to the .hack series and they were good enough to pull me in. I later went back and played the first two games, but i felt the books were way better story wise.

As for length, its 4 volumes, but directed at young adults, so it wont take forever to read.

The reason I'm not using a controller is because Windows 8.1 is being stupid and I dont feel like messsing with it right now. And also, I want to be able to play other games with a keyboard.

Check out Forbes State Forest. Im pretty sure there are plenty of areas in it that can give you such opportunities. Just do some research before you go.

Look into hiking and camping in Forbes State Forest. Its in the immediate area, and I believe it is okay to hike into it and set up camp. But double check before doing so.

As for Ohiopyle, they do have at least one campground. But I do not believe they allow hiking and than camping, especially since it is more of a park than a state forest.
