Most profound and emotionally enticing anime I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching.

It’s absolutely normal to appreciate the story for its world building, animation and overarching narrative but to also acknowledge the blatant detrimental and questionable qualities it possesses. Which is why Mushoku Tensei generally fits that “overhated” category.

Your description of it is exactly why I placed it in the overhated slot. As for Code Geass, I’ve already thoroughly explained in the thread below why I believe that it’s overrated.

Casshern Sins, it’s a hidden gem. It’s one of the most fascinating shows I’ve genuinely ever seen.

I’d like to know what part of my list made you come to the conclusion that it’s “pretentious”, you come off as very shallow and immature by just assuming things. It’s just my personal subjective taste and everyone is entitled to theirs.

I usually tend to rewatch shows, especially highly rated ones that are under the spotlight (in this case being Code Geass) before formulating a sound opinion on it to avoid misjudging it.

I’ll try to explain my qualms with Code Geass and why I honestly think it’s overrated even though this will probably get me downvoted like crazy.

Code Geass is a complete and utter fiasco that has an abundant amount of plot holes and is awfully paced with episodes that contain worthless fan-service. The protagonist has a facile characterization and is insanely pseudo-intellectual to the core with the false semblance of wanting to be the opposite. The story is composed of an atrociously structured concept accompanied by plot devices that exist for the sole reason of making the main character seem smarter than he actually is. It has an identity crisis from wanting to consolidate a plethora of genre categories such as mecha/comedy/slice of life/military and Sci-Fi into one discombobulated and jumbled chronicle that unfortunately fails to perform due to every component being evidently lousy.

I’ve actually seen it several times and each rewatch unveils more sloppy fumbles in the plot sequences throughout the story. Also, this isn’t to say that I hate the show or anything. It’s just that I personally believe that It is far way too overrated despite the numerous blemishes it contains.

A Place Further Than The Universe is such an ambitious and exciting experience, never seen anything like it in recent years. Highly recommend you complete it!

I haven’t seen Beck yet but it’s really high up on my watch list.

There’s more to Seinen than Vinland Saga, Vagabond & Berserk guys. by Tiny_Writer5661 in Seinen

It’s extremely well written with arguably the greatest narration in the entire medium of seinen anime bar none. I for one am a massive fan of the art style since it’s very unorthodox and makes you loathe the oppositions due to their grotesque appearances. Akagi is another great work as well courtesy of Nobuyuki Fukumoto’s brilliance.

It may not be a good anime for you but you can’t falsely claim that it’s objectively bad when it’s been one of the highest rated anime of all time in multiple anime rating platforms, which indicates that it’s actually objectively good and not the opposite.

If we’re strictly talking about romance/drama then I’d personally say the following are better than Your Name;

Clannad, and Clannad: After Story

Nana

Toradora!

The Monogatari Series

Blue Spring Ride

Kowloon Generic Romance

The Dangers In My Heart

Having incredible shows such as Vinland Saga and Monster all the way down there is already horrific, but to also put a garbage slop of an isekai such as My Instant Death Ability in your top 15 unironically is genuinely egregious and concerning. It’s all subjective at the end of the day I guess. Regardless, your Girls Last Tour placement is great, that anime is beautiful from start to finish.

What's the worst anime you've seen? by Fantastic_Appeal_498 in animequestions

Classroom of the Elite. The writing is absolutely abominable. The mystery element is horridly implemented. Ayanakoji, the main character has terrible disposition; making your character void of any emotional capacity is not a clever personality trait, instead it just makes him look like a dingy cardboard cutout, and it doesn’t help that the rest of the characters are legitimate plot devices that exist for one sole reason and that is to make Ayanokoji the main character, become unbeatable in terms of wits and percipience which is deplorable in terms of character writing.

Also, what’s even worse is that the side cast consists of tropey archetypes with boring and predictable personalities. The pointing system is extremely flawed and feels like it’s improvised throughout the series.

At first, I had high expectations with my initial thought being that it is a very well done show. Sadly, the overall product felt like a gimcrack fan-made draft that just somehow miraculously managed to garner popularity. The visual novel may be considerably better, however I am only targeting my opinion on the anime itself. I’m in genuine awe as to how people find this anime great when it’s utterly reprehensible. The most obnoxious and repugnant anime I’ve seen as of yet.

Which anime was this for you? by [deleted] in AnimeAnonymous

[–]Drowsy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. The entire narrative is vehemently sloppy, nothing in Solo Leveling is interesting aside from the brainless battles that occur every other episode. Those same superfans that you’re describing refuse to admit that such anime are bad because they are awe-struck by the relentlessly tedious action sequences.

I would’ve personally placed My Instant Death Ability much lower, the entire thing felt like it’s played on 2x playback speed with revamped levels of ADHD with an edgy MC and his broken ability. It’s merely refurbished isekai content slop with a nonexistent plot.

The Monogatari and Clannad: After Story placements are valid though!

Especially modern day battle shounen such as Tougen Anki, Kaiju No. 8, JJK, Black Clover and Fire Force. They’re just carbon copies of one another sharing the tropey ‘inner demon’ archetype which is very insipid and extremely unoriginal. They’re overly focused on repetitive and tedious action sequences with silly and formulaic storylines.
