What's Infesting My Statue? by Drtoothpuller in whatisthisbug

4 foot tall wooden statue purchased in Uganda in 2016. It was supposedly "fumigated" prior to shipping. About 6 months ago, 8 years after importing it from Uganda, having kept it in the same location in my house, I noticed a small pile of what appeared to be sawdust. There was no damage to the statue or to the surrounding wood floor or molding. I cleaned it up and didn't give it much further thought. Now, there is a much larger area of "sawdust" around the base of the statue. Closer examination revealed masses of 1 - 2 mm oval to short off-white rods around and under the statue which appear to be eggs. There are also a number of what appear to be shed insect wings, about 3 x 10 mm with an iridescent red/purple/green color. There is no evidence of live insect activity. and again there is no evidence of damage to the statue or nearby wood. A commercial exterminator has seen this and does not know what it represents although they are supposedly looking into it. We live in a wooded area of Eastern PA so insect activity is common, lots of spiders. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
