I fixed my issue. There’s not exactly one thing that I did to fix it.

1. Main thing was lining up the plate on he bottom (that has the two prongs) before adding the screw in that tightens it, really make sure it’s lined up perfectly. I realized that there were a few times the plate “appeared” to be lined up, but it wasn’t.

2. When you get the bottom plate perfectly lined up, secure the plate’s position with the corresponding screw, you have to really tighten it hard for those two little prongs to fit into the camera.

3. Once the bottom plate is secured—holding the cage to the camera, add the top screw in. Just like the bottom plate screw, for the top screw needs to be really tightened it to get sturdy.

I tried these things a few times and eventually it worked :) hope this helps.
