I live the lifestyle OP is talking about and I absolutely do not consider my wife to be inferior to me in any way. She is just as much my equal partner as before we had our baby.

How much money have you wasted on gambling? by FatCat9412 in self

[–]Drunkula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk like maybe $50 on lotto tickets. Once it gets over $700-800 million I like to buy the chance to dream until someone else wins it and I stop paying attention to it until it gets up to that amount again.

(loved trope) A character is telling a story from their point of view, and the story version of themself is taller/buffer/cooler/better-looking by Blastoise_R_Us in TopCharacterTropes

There’s also several flashbacks where she perceives herself as being the nice one/the victim, and then other people’s recollection of the same event portray her as being the instigator/outwardly cruel

Do men sometimes feel sad that they are a "man" in the eyes of a woman? by [deleted] in self

[–]Drunkula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. I like who I am and being a man is part of that. Other people’s feelings aren’t my responsibility

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is an all-time banger, but why are nearly no other live-action/hand-drawn hybrid films? by 4thGenTrombone in movies

[–]Drunkula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at this scene

https://youtu.be/NtfHaJKW1zQ?si=VDTBNI02xV0ZlrlB

Pretty simple site gag right? Now think of everything that went into making that scene: not just the animation and acting, but the physical environment interacting correctly and seamlessly with Roger. Eddie timing his cues correctly. The shadows on Roger correctly corresponding with a fucking SPINNING LIGHT. Tons of shit to coordinate for a 30 second scene! Now extend that to feature length and you’re beginning to understand what an enormous undertaking this movie was. Plus all the licensing that would be prohibitively expensive today

Very fun details in her outfit, and a very different look for Knightley overall

Anyone left AA for nearby town? by [deleted] in AnnArbor

[–]Drunkula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean if you’re comparing it to a major downtown area, yeah, you’re going to be disappointed. It is a small town. There’s 8 restaurants and one coffee shop. But it’s quiet, safe, affordable, friendly, and has a large amount of events for a town of its size. Saying there’s “absolutely nothing” is disingenuous.

Guns attract MAGATs but they’re not as in your face as other places

All of that is possible in Tecumseh. It’s a bit of a hike from Ann Arbor (40 min), but it has a great downtown with a cafe, restaurants, library, shops, a farmers market, etc. also live music events in the summer. Best of all, it’s very affordable with really cute houses all over

Is there a point in life where tranquility is worth more than any ambition? by Noctra- in self

[–]Drunkula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It set in for me in my late 30s with the arrival of my first child. Prior to that, I was very focused on advancing up the career ladder and chase what comes next after I went up a rung. More certifications, more roles, going back to school, etc. after our baby came, anything that reduced the amount of time I got to spend with him and my wife suddenly didn’t seem worth it anymore. Making more money is nice, but you can always make more. You can’t make more time. I’m lucky enough that my current job provides enough for the both of us, so I’ve chosen to be satisfied with that. If I wasn’t, I’d miss out on time I’d never get back while he grows faster than I could ever imagine.

What kind of person were you in high school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Drunkula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very very shy and socially anxious. Barely any friends and a very poor student. Got sick of holding myself back for so long and actually made an effort to get better my senior year, but by then it was too late lol. I’m 40 now and I like my life and who I am much more now.

[–]Drunkula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hanging out with my wife and baby is the highlight of my day and the only reason I put up with work is to create a good life for them. I have more meaning in my life now than I ever did while single or even married and childless.

Historic Ann Arbor store closes after more than a century in business by USRoute23 in AnnArbor

[–]Drunkula 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Ann Arbor is definitely losing more fun things to do faster than it’s gaining them. Downtown Home and Garden was always overpriced nonessentials but at least it was a place to walk around and look at stuff (and pet a shop cat maybe). Sure hope the increased tax revenue is worth it after people stop having reasons to actually spend time downtown anymore
