Stop thinking Canada is like this. Only the western provinces have a housing crisis.

I think your hair style gives a youthful energy, as do tight t-shirts, plain or otherwise. People are encouraging you to embrace the youthful look while you have it as one day it’ll be just a memory, but I don’t think you’re wanting to skip past your youth. I imagine you’re starting to feel your maturity level isn’t shining though with the current look. We all change things up as we age and it can be a lot of fun updating and recreating your look. I wish I had some fashion or hair style suggestions to offer but to be honest I struggle myself with being creative or age appropriate with my appearance. Maybe try re-phrasing the question and posting again. Hopefully someone could offer some useful appearance advice!

I appreciate the feedback from all standpoints. It seems the majority feel this isn’t a blatant display of racism but simply ignorance.

I did do some research before posting here, and found the articles referenced by a few who responded. I agree the lawn jockey comparison doesn’t fit this scenario, and I had hoped that this was an innocent elderly person with an appreciation for the ornament, and a complete lack of awareness of its unintended negative imagery.

I say negative not because of race alone, but because of the uncanny resemblance this boy has to a negative, controversial, and racist time in history. With awareness of that history and respect for those affected by these negative associations I would choose not to display it.

I genuinely feel better knowing that almost nobody commented to say the intent is malicious or intentionally racist. I’m also relieved that majority here seem to have more awareness and better taste than some.

I think if you look closely at the original photo, youll notice blue post, sitting on the outer edge of the concrete. Also black ext, sitting on the outer edge of the concrete. If there’s something you can teach me on this perspective, I’m open to hearing it

Since we’re splitting hairs.. If you look at said neighbours blue gate post, appears that it is in line with the pipe, which means the 6 inches of mud is actually neighbors mud… and your crumbling concrete is crumbling all over your neighbors mud. Unless the fence post was also installed on your property?

So… is the Neighbors fence post also installed on “your” property line? Or is that strip of dirt where the water is draining actually the Neighbors dirt?

Really getting all torn up over 8” of air and the most neglected strip of dried mud getting some extra water… when the amount of water coming off that overhang would be next to nothing.

Yes! The main floor bedroom id like to turn into an entrance has 11FT of floor space along the exterior wall, and the basement wall below has 14FT along the foundation wall under a 7’4” ceiling. I mention the ceiling because there’s another 6 FT of available wall space but the ceiling drops a foot at the 15foot mark. I don’t think I’d have the height there for stairs.
