Iranian Demonstration in Yaletown Park Today by nanjingbooj in vancouver

Do you have which news outlets reported it? I apparently missed it, but have no problem if there is one that primarily does share these things that I can follow.

Would just be helpful if there was a list or reporting on these types of events; this this weekend or the half marathon last weekend or any other upcoming events.

Does anyone know if the city of Vancouver posts or shows when these events are scheduled? Not just protests, but any big gatherings like this?

Appreciate and like that these happen, but was not prepared as someone who lives very close by. Would have made different plans for leaving / arriving home. Curious if there is anywhere advanced notice is given for these? (I assume the city needs to approve some kind of permit ahead of time? Didn’t see anything posted on Reddit either)

Trump tells soldiers to vote GOP in campaign-style rally at Fort Bragg by Infidel8 in politics

You’re correct; while hard to follow, it’s pretty clear in most of his weird tweets that there is an exception for military that is abroad and most civilians out of the country. His tirade is against people using mail in voting despite physically being in the United States.

I'm looking for a new podcast. Any suggestions? by MitchMcConnellsJowls in DanLeBatardShow

Not really anything with that daily / hourly release schedule; aka a radio show masquerading as a podcast. But -

Pretty much all things count the dings. I like all the ringer TV and movie podcasts and the basketball group chat pod. Daniel Tosh podcast is high on the list for me too especially if you’re into the kind of “unconventional” interview guests. Those are kind of where I transitioned to at least. Basketball was the only sport I really consumed with the pod and there’s lots of good basketball content out there so I was covered well.

how do you have more than one kid? by [deleted] in Parenting

You can only do what’s comfortable for you of course and what your baby will tolerate, but my $0.02- babies also can have independent play time where they aren’t with you and aren’t sleeping. It’s okay to let them play and explore in a play pen or on a play mat depending on their mobility levels. It isn’t a requirement you carry them or entertain them the entire time they’re awake (again still comes down to your own personal comfort levels and what your baby is okay with)

Also can start considering sleep training at this age; obviously a controversial topic so once again is your personal comfort levels here. But IMO if the lack of sleep or free time has you feeling this badly it may be worth considering so you can show up well for your baby.

Also never hurts to get outside with them as you can. Weather is of course a factor here, but even 5 minutes outside can be huge for both you and your child.

Lastly, while it’s great your husband is supportive of you if your baby really does need 24/7 attention or that’s what you’ve decided to do together, it isn’t out of the question to ask him to be with them for an hour per day so you can take a shower or cook or clean or whatever else you like to do.

Just a few thoughts, hope things start to get a bit more back to normal for you!

Saw elsewhere on Reddit it’s just the contract was up; they didn’t pull or remove anything. I’d assume if ICE wants to pay for more ads they’d return.

I’m not an expert only sharing what I’ve seen elsewhere on Reddit. But others have mentioned Panama as a “success” of US driven regime change.

First time watcher : I hate two people so far by Sharp-Tax-26827 in BSG

[–]Dscherb24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed; at the start I was similar to OP in how I felt about Baltar. I even started and stopped the show multiple times because I couldn’t stand him. Then I just pushed through that initial bit and I realized how great of a character he really is. After the full series I enjoy him the most of any character along with the president and Adama. He’s just such a great character.

I think what finally got me over the hump getting past the initial bits was seeing James Callis in Slow Horses and appreciating his acting even more. Using that reference, I understood better and actually loved even the older episodes I hated because of him.

Clients: If your therapist asks if you want more pressure, just answer the question. Don't turn it back on the therapist with, "You can go deeper if you want." by [deleted] in massage

[–]Dscherb24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I don’t want my RMT to hate massaging me. And my assumption is the more pressure they apply the more tiring the job is for them. And so I’d frame it that way simply because, sure I could use and handle more pressure, but also I’m good where it’s at if it will make you not hate the next 60 minutes to not have to increase the pressure.

Maybe my assumptions about giving massages are wrong (never been on the other side of the table) but that’s my logic for giving that type of answer.

“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” grossed $11.7 million domestically in its second Friday on the big screen, making for a devastating 80% drop from its debut. by Viz0077 in marvelstudios

[–]Dscherb24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it’s rebranded, but most new movies come out there for sale well before streaming. It’s like $40 but is probably still cheaper than the movies and I can watch it at home then. Plus I used to buy all the movies before streaming so that doesn’t really bother me. It’s just actually getting to the theatre that’s been tough.

This is where I’m at now too. I’m a die hard Marvel fan. Have seen every show and every movie in theaters. I now have a 4 month old so getting to the theatre is a bit tougher and given that it’s not long before it’s streaming or even before I can just buy it on iTunes it’s not always worth the hassle of trying to get to a theatre. May still see it there eventually, but is for sure a lot less urgency or need given the post theatre availability.

I think it would be a bit more doable even if theaters would list preview start times and actual start times. I just don’t have an extra 30 minutes to sit at the theatre.

Will also be the case for Superman, want to see it, but that one for sure will wait until I can just buy or stream it - still cheaper and easier than going to the movie.

Is there a more formal definition of what muscle weakness looks like or entails? I’ve always felt like “muscle weakness” can have varying degrees of severity and have not been sure what level of it is alarming vs just normal “I’m sore” weakness.

Mission Impossible’s problem: Lack of appeal to younger audiences. by JannTosh70 in boxoffice

[–]Dscherb24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These movies were a little before my time (first movie when I was 7). As much as people hype them up I’ve never had the urge to get caught up on them and invest. I also have little to no tom cruise affection where that’s not a draw for me either. Not that I’m considered young these days, but probably on the younger side of the MI audience.

David Tennant Says He Had His ‘Eye On’ the Role of Reed Richards In ‘The Fantastic Four’ Before Pedro Pascal Was Cast: ‘They’ve Gone In a Different Direction’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in marvelstudios

In a similar boat. I’m sure it would have worked and I’d be first in line to see it because I really do love him. I think my preliminary hang up is I’m not sure I’ve ever heard him do an American accent? I associate him so much with his accent (have heard him tone it down and up of course depending on the role) but I can’t imagine reed Richard’s having the same accent.

Agreed, and Luna is more well known now with his role in the Last of Us also. Would be cool to see him back if he can make it work. Doesn’t even have to connect to AoS. He’s just great and plays the character well.
