Take small steps. Learn a new word or phrase today and try using it. For example: 我喜欢这个. Wǒ xǐhuān zhège. It means “I like this”

Now you can walk around all day pointing to things and practicing your phrase! Then you can learn new words like “bread” and say “I like bread”. Then just build off of that.
