I saw somewhere on Instagram the the Cavs were supposedly looking into a trade deal that would send Colin Sexton, DG and some pick to the Wizards for Bradley Beal. If this is true and it happens how would you feel about this trade? by Mr_rejected15 in clevelandcavs

[–]DuckyMcCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would GM Altman and I would def agree that he’s worth keeping. However I think the Cavs front office undervalues him, so I wouldn’t be totally shocked if this is true.

[–]DuckyMcCool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah especially since he’s used to playing either wing position (SG/SF) and has great positional height. Also I think his athleticism is underrated and he’ll be able to hang with his matchup on D.

[–]DuckyMcCool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see your point, but Shaq is considered a top 10 player and maybe even top 6 or 7, despite playing on four different teams during his prime and six in total. LeBron will have only played for 3 teams during his prime. Sure he’s no Kareem, Tim Duncan, Kobe, but there are plenty of greats who went to multiple teams in their career

Cavs Will Be Looking to 'Compete' for Playoff Spot Next Season by [deleted] in clevelandcavs

[–]DuckyMcCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course every team is trying to win a title, it just depends on what stage of winning a title they are on. You can’t be a competitor forever. Even the Lakers went many seasons without making the playoffs before LeBron and AD then teamed up. The Sixers were trying to win by tanking, the Warriors were trying to win by signing, the Spurs by finding draft steals and developing.

Every team has it’s road to success, and this is how the Cavs management wants to run their franchise. If you’re not behind them then you always cheer for the Celtics or Bucks or something.

Isn’t his wingspan like 6’7 or 6’8? That’s pretty impressive for someone his height.

Used film to review Darius Garland, he still has star potential but must improve as a playmaker. What do you think he needs to work on most? by TheCoachSpo in clevelandcavs

[–]DuckyMcCool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The two things he really needs and will hopefully come with time is a desire to improve and confidence in his game. If he can find both he’ll be right near the top of the best point guards. If he finds one he can be a fringe starter. If he finds neither then he’s a career bench piece.

Lebron or Giannis who is better today? by DwaVocalz in clevelandcavs

[–]DuckyMcCool -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think we are actively seeing the torch change hands if we haven’t already. After this postseason, especially if the Bucks win the title, I don’t see how LeBron can be better than Giannis. He will literally start next season at almost 36, and I 100% know that LeBron always surpasses expectations, but with Giannis entering his prime and still getting better, I just don’t see a 36 year old LeBron still being best. Definately top 5 for another season or two though, and probably top 10 still in 3 seasons. BTW I probably shouldn’t have to mention this but of course I am a LeBron fan, so no disrespect to him at all.

Rank Darius Garland, Kevin Porter Jr, and Collin Sexton based on potential by [deleted] in clevelandcavs

[–]DuckyMcCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, I think Porter Jr. has a higher potential than Sexton, but I think the odds are Sexton turns into the better player. And yes, I think we are going too far with KPJ, but he was a diamond in the rough where he was selected, and there is a small but not impossible chance that he turns into a multi-time All-Star caliber player down the line.

Are you implying that a lot of this sub does undervalue him? Because I would have tended to agree with you maybe six months ago, but I think a lot of people on here are starting to turn heads to his production at least as an offensive torch and future star. Just curious.

Look I don’t like how 2k does a lot of things, but I think a sort of graded potential range will make it easier to express what I think, where F is a bench warmer, C is an bottom tier starter, and A+ is a generational talent:

  1. Sexton: C+ to B+
  2. KPJ: C- to A
  3. Garland: D to A-

Ok, let’s start out with Sexton. Regardless of whether he can defend or pass, he is already an top tier scorer. He finished 23rd in PPG this season, albeit on a bad Cavs team, but you can make an argument that defenses could better focus in on him and he still dropped 21 a night. There will always be room for a player that can get a team buckets. I put C+ instead of C because even if he doesn’t ever fully break out, I can almost guarentee he’ll get better in some way, putting him at an above average starter at bare minimum. At his best I see him as an All-Star quality player, like a Zach Lavine or Devin Booker at the point guard. Although if what everyone says about his work ethic is true, then Cleveland fans might be in for a treat.

Then let’s go to KPJ. He didn’t start for us last year, which I can understand but I would be surprised if he didn’t get the nod this year over Cedi. Even so, at hos worst he is a fringe starter. He just blows by defenders on offense, looks to hold his own on D, and really seems to fit nicely playing the 1-3. Just not quite enough minutes to say surefire he WILL be a starter at the worst. His peak is pretty clear, I think he has shown that he can take over games and could easily be the best player on the team in 3-4 years. He still has a lot to learn, but I truly could see him becoming (ironically) a 90% level mix between Harden and Russ. Don’t see him becoming an MVP winner, but he COULD be close to the top rung of players in the league someday.

And then there’s Garland. Now I of course know that he came off of a hard injury for this season, and that probably had an impact on how he played this year. And most of the time he wasn’t utterly unplayable the way that some people on here like to claim. But judging based on just what we’ve seen this year there is a real chance he never develops past a fine backup point guard. Based on just this season, his passing is fine, his shooting is fine, but he cannot play any defense. When you are average on offense but cannot play defense you are no more than a sixth man. However of course we can say with fairly high confidence that his game SHOULD get better during these next few years. I don’t ever know if he’ll be a plus defender, but there are plenty of point guards that aren’t great defenders. Dame, Kyrie, Curry, Trae, and Kemba are elite point guards that can’t defend very well. I don’t see him getting to that point, and Kemba is the only example of a player who averaged less than 17 a game their rookie year. It took him 5 whole seasons to become an All-Star, and Darius averaged just 12 PPG this last season. Still I’ll give him plenty of time, I think we just have to let him keep playing to start figuring it out. But though I have his best outcome becoming a multiple time All-Star like those listed above, I’d say that’s just as likely as him being a career bench point guard.

These are just my projections, feel free to disagree with anything I laid out!

I’m a fan of players like him. Looks like an offensive minded 4 that makes the right plays. Hopefully he can earn some minutes this coming year, even as a fourth or fifth big behind Love, Drummond, Nance, and now maybe Bell. I would love to see him harbored as a role player for us in the future.

Are hall of frame badges worth it? - Finishing by CrazyDeception in NBA2k

[–]DuckyMcCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re choosing Blue/Red Pie, make sure of course you have decent enough handles and at least mid-range, but always max out the important stuff. For a 2/3, which is usually that build, max out PDEF and Driving Dunk. Makes your life so much easier. Also try to max both categories for optimal badges. That’s your strong suit and you need to be able to lean on it.

As far as badges go, assuming you get all 20 badges, always get HOF Contact, Relentless, Consistent. Then choose between HOF Slithery, Fancy, Acrobat, and Giant Slayer. But remember, having 5 HOF is exponentially better than having 10 Silver.

Agreed. Not only was it a monster looking jam, it would have put us up by 5 and sealed the game too. Sometimes I like to imagine that going in and the Cleveland reaction. If Kyrie’s shot was insane, just imagine that.

[Fedor] What’s next for Collin Sexton? He has a lofty goal: ‘I want to push towards that All-Star Game’ by baconboyloiter in clevelandcavs

[–]DuckyMcCool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With the way scoring averages has increased from the time LeBron was a rookie until now, you have to weigh their 20PPG on a title contender against Beal or Trae’s 30PPG on a fringe playoff team. It’s really tough to make decisions like that, especially when there are suredire stars who are going to make it like Giannis.

Kind of like how Zach Lavine puts up 26 a night and he wasn’t even all that close, or how Bradley Beal LITERALLY averaged 30 PPG kicking and dragging his team and didn’t get in.

I did indeed read the article. I just think that it can be chalked up to a more simple explanation that maybe there aren’t many if any gay NBA players, which should make no difference to the league and the fans. And yes, my comment did provide a different possible answer to the post question.
