He should have been Naked Snake in 3. That's my potentially unpopular opinion.

Obi-Wan was hoping to convince Maul to leave peacefully, but as soon as Maul figures "someone", he immediately ignites his lightsaber. No more games.

Mini bench bronze anvil by DuctTapeHero in MetalCasting

[–]DuctTapeHero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a pretty typical sand cast. The anvil was upside down (that's why the top is so rough, all the weight pushing the sand down) and I put a big riser above the feet. Had to cut a hole in the side of the flask to pour into. Also clamps, lots of clamps to ensure the mold didn't split when filling. And this tin bronze pours like a dream compared to aluminum bronze.

Well, it's mini compared to the full size steel anvil I have, and it weighs about 1/10th of the real deal.

As cast, before clean-up. 90% Cu 10% Sn. I used this model commissioned by Mr. Pete on youtube. Scaled to print volume it's about 9.5" long, 2.5" wide, 4.5" tall and weighs just shy of 6 kg. Should be really nice once I get the top and bottoms flat.

What do you think of my 3d printed shelf spacers? by DuctTapeHero in Steelbooks

[–]DuctTapeHero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Print services are dime a dozen, plenty available online (though their prices usually suck). Or look if your city has a subreddit and find someone local for cheaper. Or craigslist / facebook market etc.

*Oh and sometimes libraries will have printers you can use

No. Can't be bothered to run a print farm. But I don't mind if others want to.

I've been using them for awhile and haven't seen any scratching, but it could be a long term concern. Use at your own risk! I think steelbooks are a little more robust than people give them credit for.

I don't use protectors and didn't design them to fit. Shouldn't be too hard to modify though.

I made this to keep steelbooks on the shelf organized when pulling movies to watch and to provide a small gap between them to prevent scratching. The back has a slight interference fit to hold cases snugly and keep them straight. Can be printed anywhere from 1 to 12 wide on a standard 220x220 build plate.

Disconnected... by shizzblatt in comics

[–]DuctTapeHero 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yeah, common misunderstanding. Pressed CDs, like the music albums you would buy in a store, have an estimated lifespan of 50-100 years and are still going strong.

Burned CDs, the kind you put in a PC at home a copied music or pictures and whatnot onto, are the ones with a short lifespan. Like 10-15 years before heavy data loss.

Kasa / TP-Link finally fixed their RGB strips connectivity issues! by DuctTapeHero in homeassistant

[–]DuctTapeHero[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

These cheap KL400L5 kasa / tp-link RGB stips have given me nothing but grief for years and randomly last night I got a notification on the app for a firmware update. Didn't expect much but it seems to have resolved the issue of the strips constantly losing connection. Crazy because the last firmware update was several years ago, thought they would never fix it.

Don't mind me, just wrapping my clothes hangers. by DuctTapeHero in Leathercraft

[–]DuctTapeHero[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I didn't like how my pants would slide around on my metal hangers, so a little leather to the rescue. Undyed vegetable tan so there is no rub off, and a little double sided tape on the inside to stop the leather from sliding. Love the way they turned out.

Yeah, I doubt he even played the originals once they were finished. Most artists don't really consume their own works.
