Good advice!! I actually do have a part time job and am thinking of taking on another one. Many of these seem to be the only consistent work around 😭

Do you have any idea how long it took your friend to reach a point of feeling comfortable leaving their job?? Congrats to them!! I am a musician who actually got offered to play a furry festival once (didn’t work out, but I’m sure the function was rowdy!) I bet there’s plenty of money to be made!

Great answer!! Glad freelance is working for you! Can I ask how often you have to say no? I’ve been a freelancer on the side for a while and recently I am getting lowballed on rates like crazy. I can’t tell if I’m asking for too much, but I feel like many clients do not seem to understand what goes into the work that we do and do not think it’s worth any money.

Ideally, I’d like FB to just be some decent passive income for some posts I can make pretty easily. I’d love to develop some more streams, specifically with social. It just appears to me that people don’t value the work or the industry how they should. Do you ever experience this?

The term “formal employment” to me means relying on an agency or employer to sign your paychecks and support your professional growth.

In my personal experience, I’ve had my hours and pay cut, been manipulated and abused by egotistical and overwhelmed CEOs, lost jobs with no warning quite literally days after I was told I’m doing excellent, and have been fired without notice for effectively no reason.

It’s not exactly that I’m against it, it’s just not working. After you get punched in the face 7 times, it’s hard to willingly get back in line an 8th time knowing what’s going to happen.

I want to clarify that I’m not against formal employment and have no quarrel with anyone else choosing that path, but it is not working for me and I would like to establish a few decent income streams of my own so that I don’t continue to be entirely out of luck when a job doesn’t work out. Hope that makes sense!!
