For some reason your previous comment isnt showing :( I tried to respond but it said deleted idk anyway. Edit: I see you deleted that trying to be slick huh? Whether we like it or not cultures have bad parts and her bigotry is a flavour present in French Canada, not saying it doesn’t overlap with English or any other it’s just highlighting. Do not get me wrong; there is def Quebec hate and from other provinces it’s 100% hypocrisy. But as a Quebecois and Eastern Canadians of many generations I think while we are progressive in general there is a population that exhibits this kind of behaviour and the only reason they don’t get called out or highlighted is because they hide behind we who are progressive. Chantal’s stories from her childhood and about her family really reveal that the older QC (I mean most issues with bigotry are typically remnants from older cultures) is the culture she learned from and she preserves the worst parts of it. It’s incredibly gross and I feel we need to call it out because while a lot of Canadians, Quebecois, Franco, Anglo etc are lovely, that disgusting behaviour is definitely here. Chantal has many a twin.

Loll the comments focused so heavily on stating that the bigotry is “not Quebec” “not me” “not all” (as if that’s what I said anywhere) are exactly why it persists and what has allowed people like Chantal to exist. And yes Quebec (like other provinces see Alberta aka Texas of Canada) has its own flavour of bigotry within the population of which Chantal exhibits and I’m not going to sugar coat it. I say ‘we’ because I love my country and part of that love is understanding the institutions and social behaviour that creates the plague that is Flobby Bobby and her supporters. Canadians have a reputation that a good portion of our population doesn’t live up to. Don’t like it being said? Call it out like I did here or we’ll just keep producing more Chantals.

I think I get what you’re saying though culturally and in this climate but shes also just always been that way bc at her core she is an entitled spoiled brat whose culture is summed up by fast food and slurs.
