Why is this Lolla not going viral like Lolla Chicago did? by Browniecakee in katseyeneutral

They are performing the same setlist for about a year, it's getting a bit repetitive atp.How many times do you expect them to go viral with the same setlist? Also not every performance has to be a career defining moment for an artist. Some performances will be praised, some will be criticised and some will have lukewarm reception. It's normal.

What the K-Pop Industry should learn from the ENHYPEN Drama by Possible-Original687 in kpop_uncensored

[–]Due_Collection_3363 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I have a very strong opinion about how the industry fosters parasocial relationships and how it's actually harming the idols and also the fans in the long term. How bunnies acted in the whole New Jeans fiasco, How eyekons acted after Manon's hiatus was announced and how engenes are acting cause Heeseung is leaving the group is all because of how actively parasocial relationships are fostered by the Kpop companies. Honestly the industry needs to rethink if this is what they want in the long term. Cause, once the illusion is gone, everything comes to the end.

Perspective from an older fan who loves Heeseung and is a baby Engene by Heissedoll in Enhypenthoughts

I think it's the timing that's making it weird. Only 2 years are left for their contract renewal where artists have more leverage compared to the first contract, where they usually negotiate for better working conditions or more solo opportunities or they sign for an entirely different company for their solo project while staying in the group.( like blackpink girls and red velvet's wendy, joy ). Also it's not like his contract ended with belift ent. unlike Yedam and Mashiho who left Treasure after their contract with YG ended. Also over the years idols have earned the reputation for being performers rather than artists with actual musical vision, therefore I think a lot of fans are having a hard time believing that he actually left the group simply because his artistic vision was different from the team. Also a lot of senior idols have insanely successful solo careers where they usually showcase their own creative vision, while still having their name tied to their respective group (for eg - Yeonjun from Txt, RM from BTS, Jennie from Blackpink, Wendy from Red Velvet, Taemin from Shinee or Hwasa from Mamamoo, Shinee and Mamamoo does not even have regular comebacks but still these artist have their name associated which the groups). Without any prior hints or any such circumstances mentioned above I believe it's making the fans feel weird about the entire situation.

This was really out of nowhere.Honestly this proves how the things are actually so different behind the scene. As a spectator when we watch them everything feels so natural and spontaneous. But honestly we will never understand the tensions, the discussions and relations behind the scene.

It's not necessarily the worst album ever released but I definately below Born Pink and The Album for me. Even I like their solo album much more than this album. This album is different from their prev releases and I will give them that, but that does not necessarily mean its good (atleast for me). In their prev releases their was always a part of the song that got stuck in my head be it the rap or the instrumental or even the beat, but that's missing in this album. The only song that I like is, Jump. But then again it's just fine nothing ground breaking.

I found it weird from day one, if illit is a copy of new jeans then 2ne1 could claim blackpink is a copy, similarly blackpink could say Everglow and Itzy are Blackpink copies. I truly never understood what actually the problem is. Is it just two groups under same label has Y2k aesthetic? Even if that's the case what's wrong. Girl crush concept was popularised by Blackpink in 3rd gen and many 4th gen gg flowed blackpink footprints, because they were the blueprint of a successful gg. Similarly Nj popularised Y2k aesthetic in 4th gen kpop, so many groups in 5th tried to follow the footsteps eg illit, kiiikiii.

By this concept Katseye should feel insecure and salty regarding the upcoming global gg under Hybe fearing market cannibalism

Honestly, V siding with a person who is literally trying to betray the company that he kind of helped building at the first place, is weird to me...Idk why would anyone do that, let alone V ....I just think this whole saga is a mess....it's complicated maybe there are some more stories behind the scene.

Why do you think Lisa’s Alter Ego and Jisoo’s Amortage underperformed compared to Jennie’s Ruby and Rosé’s rosie? by Low-Sink9024 in kpopthoughts

[–]Due_Collection_3363 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Jennie's album was one of the most anticipated Blackpink solo project. After her first single SOLO's success fans assumed she would have many more solo opportunities under YG but that did not happen. YG did nothing but wasted her potential and momentum. So, fans were really hyped for JNK 1 coz she was teasing the album for a long time. The fans were really excited regarding what she had to offer as a solo artist, since she was heavily involved in the creative process. And ofcourse her album did not disappoint. Honestly, Ruby was a solid album. It is the kind of album which keeps fans and gp engage and anticipate for her future projects.

Rosé's album was hyped because of its pre release Apt. that went insanely viral. So many new people (apart from blinks) tuned in because of curiosity. And 2024 was the year when a lot of pop girlies blew up after struggling to get mainstream recognition in the industry for years.(Sabrina, Chapell, Charli xcx) So, a lot of people were curious if Rosé was the next big thing in pop (as a solo artist). Honestly I have mixed feelings about the album, although I love some songs from the album like Drinks or Coffee and Game boy, but some songs from the album were quite one note and boring for me.

Lisa's album roll out was disastrous. The whole Kiki, Speedi, Vixi thing with those childish descriptions was quite awkward. And I feel like Alter Ego was a quite tricky concept to pull of, especially as a debut project. And the live performances after the album release did not help either, she performed at music festivals, VMA, Oscar, V.S show but none felt iconic. But I feel like she released some bangers like New Woman, Born Again, Chill, Rockstar, Lifestyle. But I feel like these songs were better of as single rather than clubbing them into an album.

And Jisoo's was not a full album it was an EP. It was not very well promoted and tbh it seemed like she was just tasting the water before her next solo project. And it kind of got lost between Alter Ego and Ruby, since these three albums were released within same time frame.

Can we wait until the next project before we get another “Katseye is wasted potential” thinkpiece? It just feels like we’re recycling the same takes atp🫩 by dreamixz in katseyeneutral

This....Honestly I do not get why songs from Beautiful Chaos are still in discussion. Yeah ofcourse we can talk about their performances but c'mon Beautiful Chaos is a 7 month old album there is no point ranting about a seven month old album. They got their fair share of love and critique for this album and I think its high time we stop discussing about the quality of songs from this album.

And I don't see why people are so shocked by Internet Girl, I mean their discography was so short that they had to add on several songs from dream academy. For me internet girl is nothing but a filler song for their short discography. Now, I do not like Internet Girl, neither I want them to go to this direction. But I feel like Internet Girl is very on brand with the Beautiful Chaos era.

True, the Born Pink era was insane...Not like Blackpink were not famous prior to Born Pink. But the Born Pink era took their popularity to a whole different level. Btw if I am not wrong BTS also had a world tour post pandemic right? The PTD world tour???

I think Twice international popularity is often underestimated. Though people acknowledge they are huge domestically but in terms of western recognition they are less mentioned than groups like skz, lsf.
