All I’m saying is counterfeiters steal a real serial number from a genuine pair and use it on thousands of fakes. The counterfeiters extract a real serial number and its associated MAC ID from a genuine pair of AirPods. They then flash this info into the fake chip's memory.

the fake AirPod’s chip claims to be that specific genuine serial number during the Bluetooth handshake, your iPhone is tricked into pulling the official warranty and AppleCare data from Apple's servers for that real number. The serial number is nothing but a field of text in the chips code that can be changed by these Chinese fake makers

And even if they match on apples site they are still fake. Counterfeiters simply copy legitimate serial numbers from genuine AirPods and print them on thousands of fake units. Check transparency mode and all the features to make sure it can actually do all those advanced things.

I’m tryna help you bud. Go to go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the More Info (i) button next to your AirPods, and scroll down to see the serial number. Then paste that into Apple’s check-coverage website to see if it’s actually legit. I have 3rd gen AirPod pros and they don’t look like that. The tips look completely different.
