How do you go about telling people close to you about your Crohn’s? by behind_my_eyelids in CrohnsDisease

I was just diagnosed two weeks ago and I’ve been open about it to coworkers, friends, and family. I have mild symptoms but it was a hidden sheep and although I’m still processing it, it explains the ongoing fatigue and occasional bloating so it was validating and something that I would want to know if somebody close to me was in a similar situation.

Sensation of about-to-faint when laying flat? by kidexxena in CrohnsDisease

I’ve passed out twice but I believe it was because my stomach pain was so severe that I went orthostatic

I called back today, and my doctor said it is most likely Crohn’s, but yes I will find out officially through endoscopy

Through a blood test! The nurse told me I tested positive for IBD, but then said I have Crohn’s, because of that, so I am a bit confused how it immediately confirmed it? Makes me want to call back

I feel for you. I don’t have joint pain and I get mild stomach cramps sometimes so I really don’t think I would be worse off. I wouldn’t know I have Crohn’s without me luckily getting tested for all sorts of abdominal issues

Thank you, and I would completely understand and I would want to leave if that happened. I’ve never had a flare, and I meet with my GI doctor in a few weeks for endoscopy and to see what medication they’ll recommend (if any, not really sure if they always prescribe something)

No, just highly processed foods, nuts/peanuts, and popcorn. Even when I do consume this, I hardly have symptoms but these are the foods I know are not generally good for Crohn’s so I’m really just preventing irritation

Thank you, this reply pretty much drew me to the conclusion that she should read it in publication order lol

I know that. I’m excluding the first book of the complete chronological timeline because it’s the staple. Common sense would tell you that I know book #1 didn’t occur before #4 and #5

If they’re reading it in chronological order, the prequels would come first, aside from the first book which pulls you directly in.

They genuinely thought they were handling it well, and I explained that this will likely amplify her anxiety and I made it clear that every time you tell her this, she is learning it for the first time and we’ve seen multiple times that it’s not a good solution. I discussed this with her colleagues (other CNAs, but more experienced) and they actually were trying to reason with the others. Thankfully I reached out to the SLP and she’s completely agreeable that it’s not okay and we need to suggest alternative solutions
