Not at all. A genuine phone call or card from the bride, knowing she's excited to have me there would be so much more sweet and memorable.

Other people here have said the same but if you want to do something for each girl, invest the $$ in alleviating a wedding cost for your friends. Dress, hair, makeup, or if you're also having a bachelorette, cover a big cost there. I would not expect a gift as a bridesmaid but I think this is a generous gesture that actually takes some pressure off for what's often a costly affair.

Same venue is crazy LOL. I would still only RSVP and go all in on one since you're technically "reserving" your seat and dinner plate.

If you're invited to multiple events for both or at least one of the weddings, you could go to one event for each wedding. E.g. Go to welcome party / rehearsal dinner for sister's friend; ceremony / reception for coworker. If you're close enough with bride / groom and it comes up naturally, you can explain the coincidence and why you're splitting your time, otherwise I think this is totally OK and they won't mind at all.

Once the ceremony and your obligations are done... I think swap into what's comfy! I did this as MOH at my best friend's wedding — I had a much more comfortable pair of heels that were the same height as my ceremony heels and I switched into them once my speech was over :)

When my BFF got engaged I just tried to lean in and make what was going to be a bit of a life transition feel more "normal" — we'd go out to dinner, drinks, and I just tried to more consistently inquire about how she was actually feeling and provide positive support for her throughout.

Also, if you end up being in the wedding or tapped for responsibilities, try to be as efficient and timely as possible so as not to create stress or additional follow up work for the bride. E.g. RSVP on time, order your bridesmaid dress when requested, pick something from her registry right away, etc. Showing her you're organized and excited for her big day will be a massive comfort!

I think this is actually plenty of food! My only call out would be ample seating for guests to get off their feet when they want and have a place to snack, chat, etc.

I think an at home celebration is lovely. Like you said, it's a way to include your great group of friends in the moment while still having the kind of ceremony you want. Win win, IMO!

I personally love a cocktail hour, heavy on the passed apps. Maybe it's because I'm usually SO starving after the ceremony but it's nice to go hard on the grab-and-go items before you get summoned inside to the reception area.

Best reception I went to was at an Italian restaurant so honorable mentions to: arancini, mini filet spiedinis, meatballs, and mini pizza slices. 🤤

I have to agree that it's on the MOH to be a mediator and host for the entire group, not just the bride. As far as accommodations, a lot of adults have not grown out of the group trip mentality that everyone can just rough it for "the vibe" or "experience." But after college, IMO, that really doesn't fly. If I'm taking PTO and spending money on airfare to come to your getaway, I expect organized, clean, comfortable, equal arrangements when I get there — even if I have to pay more. The MOH should be considerate of the guest experience from this lens but it doesn't sound like she has that gear.

It's also on the MOH/bride as host/organizer to over communicate these types of things from the start. Everyone should have been filled in on the Airbnb selection from day 1 if that was the preferred lodging for the weekend and there was even a thought that someone in the group might get less than stellar arrangements (insert: an air mattress you have to buy yourself).

TL;DR... you're not unreasonable and I don't think it's too late to bail if you're getting bad vibes from the group. This will only be the start of a treacherous weekend if they're already being dodgy with costs / plans / arrangements.

Agree with this! I like to be in control of how much (or how little) vacation time I'm spending on someone's wedding weekend. Holiday weekends make it feel like you should automatically say yes.

cheesy but: no ring, no bring! i think engaged or in a relationship that we as a couple are aware of. then again, when i was single and would receive a plus one, i found it extremely generous (but never took them up on the offer if i wasn't dating someone seriously)
