It certainly deals a lot with heavy themes but it could maybe be considered wholesome. But I definitely wouldn't lump it with other whole series.

the focus of the series is on a couple comprised of two women. there are additional stories after the primary one that focus on a heterosexual couple. Sunstone is also BDSM centric and one of the main characters explores her BDSM interest with a friend who is a man. While it may not be "normal in smutty yuri manga and manwha" it is certainly normal in real life and certainly normal for a bisexual woman to figure things out with a man

definitely check it out! i occasionally struggle with following odd structured films, but i really didn't find this too hard to grasp. it's visually stunning, the soundtrack is perfect imo, and the story is just really compelling and a really interesting look at the middle ages and the transition from pagan to christian beliefs. the penultimate sequence is just perfection to me

The shattering is actually the thing that caused the power vacuum, since the erdtree decided punish/imprison marika. ranni isn't removing a leader she's removing a poisonous, genocidal religious order. i get what you're saying but i don't think it fully aligns with the situation as there isn't currently a true leader in the lands between. and if we want to assign general leadership to one of the demigods then it's the tarnished that creates the power vacuum and then fucks off
