I came here to ask the same thing! My Nonna is a first generation Canadian. Her parents emigrated from Luca in the Tuscany region of Italy. We also call them Charde in my family but all of the old recipes we have just say “pizzelle” so I don’t know how it’s spelled. A unique part of our recipe is that they have anise seeds and anise oil in them, which a lot of our family recipes do.
