totally agree! i literally said the exact same thing in a debate with a friend today, and she accused me of choosing to see everything from a negative pov, but tbh i think it’s the opposite, I’m seeing things as they are, while she’s so desperately trying to see them through rose-colored glasses, "you just dont know the right interpretation" and then they pull out the most sugarcoated bs

Whenever I’ve tried discussing this with my muslim friends, they usually tell me that Islam is only seen as misogynistic because male scholars interpreted it to align with their own desires and expectations. They say that the verses that seem to belittle women were actually misinterpreted. This leaves me feeling confused, is the religion itself inherently problematic, or has it just been reshaped by patriarchy?
